Multiple Main Dining Rooms - Wait staff question

Edge offers an opportunity to rotate within 4 main dining venues: Cosmopolitan, Tuscan, Normandy and Cyprus (excluding specialty restaurants). Does the wait staff rotate between MDR venues, or do they stay with a specific restaurant?

In the MDR, we often ask for the same wait staff every night and can always get them. Pretty sure they stay with the same MDR for the cruise. Specialty restaurants are different. We did Cagney's once and wanted the same server the next time. They went and got him from the buffet. This does not apply to breakfast, only dinner.

After sailing Edge in Nov '19 (with select dining), discovered no waitstaff rotation among the 4 MDRs. If you do not have Select Dining, you will have difficulty doing a 4 restaurant rotation. We were most happy with Cyprus and Normande. As we were in Sky Suite, we used Luminae (which actually was weak on this trip). So went to Eden and Raw on 5 (seafood). Both excellent. We find Blu to be a strong venue, but did not have the opportunity to rotate through.

Good insight

Though I can't comment exactly how Celebrity will handle the 4 MDRs, I can tell you about how it's sister line Royal on it's larger ship's, like the Anthem, handle the multiple main dining rooms. This markedly different than Disney's dynamic dining where the passengers and their assigned wait staff rotate through various dining rooms on a set schedule.

On the Anthem 2 of the 4 MDRs are dedicated to fixed seating time dining and which one a booking is assigned to will be indicated on the Seapass card. Those with My Time Dining on the other hand may have a choice (or the host staff might switch them up based on seating needs) nightly within the other 2 dining rooms. All 4 main dining rooms have identical rotating menu each night, so all that changes room to room is the ambiance and if in MTD the table location & wait staff. All passengers also have access to the Solarium Bistro with it's static Mediterranean menu, as a complimentary "specialty" dining venue if they wish. Those in Suites or at a high enough loyalty status have access to the Coastal Kitchen but can also eat in the MTD venues or Solarium if they prefer the menu there that night.

I understand...last cruise we were so impressed with one of the servers in a specialty restaurant we asked her if she was going to be there all week. she said from one day to the next she has no idea where she was going to be.

Disney did a rotation and the staff rotated with their guests. Been a few years, so I don't know if they continued that. It was with fixed seating. On Celebrity you have your choice of set dining times or "select" which is open seating. But not sure how that works on Edge. We're sailing her in Nov and was trying to get some early insights.

Was waiting for someone else to answer more familiar with Celebrity. I can tell you the MDRS on RCL usually stat the same for the most part...hows that for a nebulous answer? and on NCL, they can all be different. why is that? because they serve at the pleasure of the hotel directors minions, and some shifts get all the tips, and some not. the $$ ods what counts...on the piers, and in the dining rooms...
