Looks like the mouse scooped up one of them.

I guess it stands to reason. They have to do SOMETHING with all the cash they're raking in at their parks. I recently read that WDW park admission tickets are going up to $124 per person, per day! And that's just for regular days. It's even higher during peak times. I'm sure their plan is to balance all that out by offering "affordable" cruise fares that will be competitive with all the major cruise lines (cough..........cough........bs...cough).

It wouldn't surprise me if I read in the future that the boarding pass to get on this behemoth will have to include your car title and/or a copy of your credit score.

Both ships were being built for Dream Cruises, a subsidiary of Genting Hong Kong. I think they (Genting) are like the CCL of the Far East. Anyway, Genting went BK in March of this year, taking Dream Cruises down with them. Hence the unfinished ships.

BTW: I wish Y47 would please tell me where I can find the pile of "big bux" he says I have.

No biggie. But you're absolutely right...went back and reread that piece AGAIN...seems that GLOBAL DREAM is also sitting in that ship yard someplace. The article is about GLOBAL DREAM II...pictures and artwork on the bow seems to indicate an oriental cruiseline...I can't read whats written above that stupid doodle...looks like an astronaut pointing somewhere...mebbe we could get ABLEMAN translate...thats why he makes the big bux....now home builders have been known to build houses "on spec"...meaning they're speculating (translation betting) that a buyer will turn up and everybody's happy. But to do it on TWO cruiseships costing way in excess of a BILLION each? Something is seriously missing here. That article was poorly written to begin with, but I missed it too...good eyes my friend!!!

Oops - sorry of that repeat. I thought yours referred to a different one that's out there too. Seems odd a huge ship would be built without parentage of a cruise line.

Thats the one I found the link to for this thread. But i'd kind of like to see the sister ship...finish it according to my own plans...got waaaaaay too much time on me hands, and winter is coming....spend my days doodling....and AB???, I haven't got the knack of figuring out how to translate that...I could do a few choice words in Vietnamese, if I could remember them hehehehe

Here's one you can buy.

Worlds largest cruise ship, fresh off a German shipyard , 9,000 passengers - original cost $1.8B and no home.

Great! Just let me know to whom I should make out the check and where I should send it.

As they say in Chinese

Zhè shì yÄ«gè wěidà de jiāoyì

second attempt......first one said "please enter a reply" when I hit submit...who's driving this bus anyway?

Couple bux will get you a premium wraparound at the stern, complete with hot tub. Signage is a problem. Learn to speak Mandarin...you could sign on as a translator...get paid to sit around and act snotty. heheheheheh

Well lets see if the third time will be the charm. I've taken the precaution of copying everything to my WP program. So without further ado, here is my original post.

I really thought MSC would have scooped this ship up at a bargain price. I guess it's too much for them in the way of additional money to re-fit it for their markets. Or perhaps it's just too big for any of the majors to take a flyer on it.

OR, as you say, rosy booking number announcements notwithstanding, we're being spoon fed male bovine excrement as to the current health of the cruise industry.

Anyway, if you're taking up a collection, you can put me down for a few bucks PROVIDING I get a contract stating I get [2] weeks per year (my choice as to sailing dates) in a premium balcony cabin for the rest of my life. I do hope you choose to replace all the signage printed in Chinese inasmuch as I can't read or speak the language.

Well,, the more the merrier I say...lets hope "we" all live long enough to see this stuff happen...then we can call THIS era "the good ol days"......wild eh?
