Is the cruise ship buffet gone forever?

We all know that as cruising begins to resume many things are going to look quite different. Do you think the days of self-service cruise ship buffets are gone forever? If so, will you miss them?

Yes they're gone forever...but thats a long time isn't it??and yes, we'll miss them..and on many ships there are buffets of different types all over the ship...they'll be gone too..

It will be a long while until things return as we have known them. It took 5 years for folks to feel things were "normal" during the Spanish flu and they didn't have the social media we do now. So there will be lots of "eyes" on the cruise industry.

I don't mind that they will be serving the food instead of us grabbing all that we can at once. For me, it will help keep me from eating too much, and if there is something I'd like more of, I will not feel weird asking for more.

A lot of things will change and I am willing to accept them..as long as they let us set sail again sometime soon!

All about adjustment in the new normal.

Serving will be different at first. Unlikely there will be self serving for some time. But in a few months/years - back to normal.

Areeed!

I don't know if it'll be gone forever but certainly will be gone for a long while. I will miss it in the beginning as I did with the midnight buffets but as long as I still get to cruise I'll get over it pretty quick.

I do think the self-serve buffet is gone forever and yes I will miss it sooo much. On the positive side, as long as the buffet is still there, even if they serve it, I will still be a happy camper!

I just need a vacation...Crying

Buffet and self serve were becoming questionable before covid. Now I think the self serve buffet is a thing of the past but a full serve buffet is still a viable option and I suspect it will still be there. Maybe not right up front but as soon as everything settles in.
