I have never taken one of these shakedown cruises. I did talk to some passengers on the Koningsdam inaugural cruise when were in the same port in Rome. One couple said that everything was great; another couple mentioned several mishaps. Sound familiar? If you have ever been on one, I'd like to hear about your experience. Sometimes cruise lines put their best staff on a new ship for a few weeks to make sure that things go smoothly.

Inaugural Cruises - Would You Take One? What Was Your Experience?

I'm not sure. I would say yes but ultimately I think I would prefer to wait a month or two.
I would take one is if it was also the re-positioning from a ship yard in Europe to the US..... I love transatlantic cruises with a solid week at sea. I would go with low expectations so that way I would be happy when things just go OK.
That would be fun! I'm just leery about the bugs to work out. You see all the bad stuff that goes on and "rushed" cruises. I'll take the 4th or 5th one maybe lol.
We are on the fence about an inaugural cruise. It's great to be on a brand spanking new ship... but the downside is being somewhat of a guinea pig while the bugs are being worked out. It would probably come down to the itinerary and the pricing... even with the best crew being on board.
