Does anyone wonder what this site was like in the beginning? Is anyone here from the early days? I hear tales of free swag. Any truth to that? Who has been here the longest? Grandma Jo maybe ð¤.

In the beginning…..

OGW: This is what drew me to this site. I like the positive and fun attitude of most everyone.
I dislike CC for all the censorship, political correctness, and (in general) argumentative attitude of many.
Kantwait: We agree.
I suspect it is because the board or roll calls are not as widely known as the others mentioned. I find for rollcall that the cc people are the same people on FB but there seems to be more activity on the FB platform .. probably because the interface and experience are more comfortable. Personally I prefer this platform myself.
I'm in your camp on that - I would really like to see more communication action on the roll calls enabled here.
Each blog site does some things well and others not so well. I still watch CC because the roll-call participates seem to communicate and arrange meeting events. (Same if you watch a roll call on FB) For some reason, roll calls on CL/Shipmate do not foster a lot of communication through the chat feature. Not sure why.

I tried CruiseCritic. Horrible site. Cliquey groups and stupid rules, I left within 2 weeks after I got my first warning. I figured I wasn’t going to last much longer anyway.
Funville was great if you were a Carnival cruiser. It became more of a social site and things got out of hand. I believe Michelle still works for Carnival, but Mary has moved on.

I enjoy the countdown feature on the app and the ease of joining roll calls. Although I have not observed much roll call "chatting". I think people sign up and forget about it.
I would tend to agree with that one

Hi, all! What a nice welcome home to find you talking about me. I have only been part of this forum since 2016. A small group from the old “Funville” went to a temporary forum and then here. I came here because Bennett (no longer on this forum) invited me. Several others did as well. I think Jusme is one of the few left from that group. Not sure why the others left, but t suspect is the roll calls on another popular social media site.
Crompond cruiser.... He would try to get some of us Funvillains to come on this site. I came over not long after Carnival pulled the plug on Funville It was very quiet, posting was very vanilla. Crompond would post humor that was funny but you needed to know his style of humor.
Posting on Funville is or was on par as Cruise Critic. We ate our young.

Always wondered what happened to those lovely ladies!

It's true, they did used to give away free things at certain loyalty levels but I'm not sure they do that now.
