Hypothetical querry

When the future rolls around and any kind of fossil fuel will be unavailable, what do you envision cruising to be like?

Will we be cruising on sailing ships like the Windstar line?

Will the vessels be large enough to utilize a nuclear reactor?

and finally.

How do we all get to the terminals??

Thanks

About half that given to the drummer.

Just as long as no one wants to go water skiing

What is considered a proper tip for the guy with the whip?

Have a seat and grab an oar matey. Grab an oar

And why not sails. Develop a new sail that can work to harvest the wind and can also double as a solar cell to power things. Sprinkle a few wind powered turbones around the top of the ship and sufficient storage batteries (and hope they don't burn) and away we go .....

A bonus I had not thought about. I like the way you think !!!

But now, besides the cows, we also need to bring a horse and a radish on board.

Aaand-- Roast beef at the end of the cruise???

While I am in favor of nuclear power/propulsion, Noah might have had your answer many years ago. Cows !!!! Bring the cows down to the engine room, harness them into the methane gas turbine and - VIOLA !! - instant power! I suppose the average cruise ship would need more than just two cows, maybe 20.

The neat thing is, need extra power ?? Need to get to a port quick?? Just add a can or four of beans to their food (maybe leftovers from the buffet) Less waste, more power per pound. Holstein Power !!!

And on those cruises longer than a week, perhaps sneak a bull or two onboard.

Extra bonus - fresh milk - from the cows, not the bulls. (I see you guys getting ready to respond).

Went to post in another thread....glitchiness has returned...reeeeeeboot time.....

In this case, I had kinda hoped for more response from the often quick witted and sometime sarcastic members, who I know exist on this site. Initially, I was referencing the latest meeting of the minds about the call to eradication of all the fossil fuels. Maybe the teleportation ideas ain't so bad, but then there would be no ships or planes, just a quick trip to a port....

I don't know.

What does the future hold?
