How formal is formal night on Carnival on a 7 night Caribbean cruise ?

I have taken Carnival out of Los Angeles for the 3 and 4 night Baja cruises and I was fine in a dark dress shirt and nice jeans for formal nights. How dressy do people get on a 7 night Carnival Eastern Caribbean? I will be on the Carnival Glory October 4th.

how about Bermuda shorts and a bow tie?

I bet that would be uncomfortably warm on a Caribbean cruise!

I'd wear that on a cruise. Big Smile

Ralph Lauren denim suit

I wounder if I can find a dark denim Tux, a light Denim shirt and a denim bow tie ?

I have been hearing buzz that Carnival is going to start enforcing the Elegant Evening due to the large volume of guests complaining about attire. I am on both sides of the fence, so it will be interesting to see what decision is made on the subject.

On Carnival, I have seen Bermuda shorts on the formal night, as well as clean T type shirts. I have seen someone refused entry wearing gym shorts and "used" t-shirt.

On Princess, most had at least a buttoned shirt and slacks for the men (mostly suits and ties, a few tuxes) and equivalent for the ladies. (Also a few "Dress Blues" from military members, and one dress kilt).

We did a Southern Caribbean, and to be honest, everybody seemed to be as elegant as they could be on vacation (even me!).

I don't dress up if I'm not at work ...I refuse to put make up on during vacation! :D But I never go to dinners with beach t-shirts, and flip flops either.

So, formal night was not any different than any other night on the ship for me and my spouse. Having said that we saw long dresses, tuxedos etc too :) I think I'll agree with other people, a clean pair of pants, a fancy(-ier) shirt, and with some fancy accessories you will be fine. And, my spouse had a pair of dark pants and a collared black shirt & jacket he blended in perfectly!

ps- also, I have to mention, we both travelled with one carry on each (not the 21 inch ones, with the half size, I guess they are 12-13 inches) and one purse for me, and one back pack for him :D

I wear formal wear on Elegant Night. For me, it's part of the cruising experience. But I also remember how cruising used to be.

I have seen shorts or t-shirts on elegant night, but I'd prefer not to.

Carnival is pretty relxed when it it comes to attie in the MDR.
