Hi everyone. Complete newbie here

Hello all. I've never been on a cruise before and think I need to soon :). I am on my own now and wondering how that works if I don't want to go on a singles cruise. I guess I will ask questions about that later and for now, just say Hi.

This is great to hear do you know what RCL cruises are offering this?

Nic, good to see you here. I miss your words of wisdom! Pete R

Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas offers single fares.

Hello! Welcome aboard!

Welcome! Don't worry about being by yourself. I did not care for my cruise mates last time and spent a lot of time on my own. Cruisers are so friendly and happy to be there. I was invited to join in a "name that tune" group

had a blast!

Thank you Kat. That's good to know. I have a friend who would like to come now but the timing is all off with the magazine I publish. It goes to press the same time a the October cruise to Hawaii from Vancouver (which would be ideal). I am thinking I will have to leave it until next year now.

Thank you John. I will check with the agent I used to use. Dealing with my dog's health issues at the moment :(

Welcome Aboard. I've done 20 cruises. 19 of those have been as a solo traveler. I love it. Comradery is built into the cruise experience so you can be as involved as you want. As an introvert, I'm fine with my alone time, but I always have opportunities to engage with others and could at any point have regular interactions throughout the cruise if I wanted. In my opinion, NCL ships with solo accommodations are the best option. Those ships put you in the vicinity of other solo cruisers and the single's coordinators arrange daily activities for those that opt to participate. In absence of the coordinators, passengers have a lounge and sometimes arrange their own events. NCL also has the most solo cruise friendly rates. You can occasionally get decent rates on other lines, but for the most part, the rates will be double if booking a double occupancy cabins.

Welcome to the group. One of the first thing you should do is seek out a top notch travel agent. There are many chances to get singles rates using their knowledge. On many ships they have singles get togethers for all demographics. I truly hope you enjoy cruising. We do enjoy cruising a very much a,d we hope to cruise more when retirement calls us.

Yeah the best strategy for reasonable cruise prices for singles is to focus less on a single cabin and more on cruising when the kids are in schools-very late August-September is one example where the same cruise could cost 50% of the cost of the same cruise during the summer/holiday prices and so its still pretty reasonable even paying double.
