I just had a thought, cruise lines should offer a drink package that you can choose how many days you want to be on it. Ie: if you know your in port 3 days of your 7, buy a drink package for 4 days? Does that not make sense?

Drink Package Thought...

Thats my thinking! But wasn't there a punch card that RCI was testing out on one of this ships?
Ummmm
Drink like a beast when you get back aboard...Beastmode!
I don't get the drink package, as I don't drink enough to make it worth my while. I only drink 3 alcoholic beverages a day (beer at $7 each is $21 a day; drink packages $45+ a day, depending on which package you choose) and don't drink coffee, bottled water or juices. I'd lose money on the drink package. So I'll stick to what I'm currently doing.
I think the drink packages are totally worth it but the last few cruises we had it included (Celebrity). We drink wine every night so it is important for us.
I may drink 1-2 alcoholic drinks per day, even with the package. I mostly drink water and juice. I just prefer not have a drink tab of any kind at the end of my cruise. If I decide to have more than 1 coffee etc...I can with a drink package with ease.
Depending on the line, I will get the drink package.
I am not normally a heavy drinker, but I tend to "relax" on vacation.
I do not drink myself to oblivion, but tend to nurse a drink for an hour or so. This way I will attain and retain the relaxed part, but not get to the drunk part. Doing this, I tend to drink about 10 - 12 drinks a day, making the drink package worth it to me. My wife does not drink, so any line that requires both passengers in a cabin to get one, I will go a la carte.
Also, any line that only allows X number of drinks, I will also go without the package (That's two strikes against Carnival).
I never get the Drink Package , not worth it to me
For a 7 -10 day cruise, we preorder a case of water. That's it. Anything else I pay for. The packages are not worth it to us. If I really want that much booze, there are ways to carry it on.
yeah yeah I know.
Keep it to yourself
Casino and Booze... Can't go wrong on either for profit. Casino as the house always wins. Booze the help the losers commiserate with each other.
WIN-WIN for the cruise line.
I asked our bartender friend we met on the allure, which place do most bartenders want to work for the best tips, and they said casino! I was a bit in shock because I do more loosing than winning and don't want to part with extra cash...
