Cuban Cigars and Rum

Am I understanding this correctly? US Citizens are now allowed to purchase cuban cigars and rum ANYWHERE they are sold with no monetary restraint as long as it is for personal consumption ??!!!

Cuban cigars cannot be sold legally in the US. They can be purchased in Canada, but not here. In addition, there will be a huge glut of Cuban banded counterfeits if they do become available here. Cuba is a small country. How much tobacco do you think they grow? Not to mention it has to be aged. Certainly nowhere near as much as is claimed on all the Caribbean islands that purportedly sell Cuban cigars.

You can bet many people will consider that and considering what a good Cuban cigar costs in the states, that may be a lucrative market for you - lol. The good news is that it includes Cuban cigars purchased anywhere not just Cuba. Used to be one or two could be brought back unnoticed ...but nice to know that you can now do so legally.

Yes, this is what I read. Maybe I can pay for my cruise through Cuba by selling back home all the rum & cigars that I buy in Cuba? LOL

Interesting .. I see they also have an extra old ... need to work in a port stop in Antigua

If you go to Antigua or St. Kitts, buy a bottle of Cavalier Rum. The Dark, not the light. Great rum @ $6 / bottle.

It doesn't matter to me.

Saw this too.. Funny thing is on our last show my BF bought a cuban cigar and we had no issues.

Also, duty exemptions remain at 2 liters of alcohol and 100 cigars, so the US could make a couple bucks at Customs… Surprised

Well, the article does say, “The regulations issued by the U.S. departments of Commerce and Treasury will make it easier for … U.S. agricultural companies to sell their products to the island and Cubans to purchase U.S.-made goods online.”

But yeah, I get what you’re saying…

So the President has successfully allowed more spending in Cuba, and allowing US businesses to operate in Cuba, without ensuring that Cuba spends in the US, thus increasing the foreign trade deficit?
