Cruising career over ?

We are on our way home from Bermuda on the Celebrity Summit. Was this our last cruise forever ? I have questions. Will post more and a review next week. Be safe

Ditto!

Partially a ship issue. We recently sailed Reflection (S-class) and everything was up and operating including the library. After sailing 4x since shutdown between 3 lines, I sense less inventory of types of food. Still ample selection , but less - its not over the top.Instead of 50 different desserts you see "25" types of dessert. We found service to be just as good if not better. But less selection of merchandize in stores. So yes observed changes, but nothing to steers us from hanging it up. We are pretty fatigued with he testing requirements - but hoping that ends sometime in the future. Have 6 more booked and we'll see what happens.

Hear! hear! That's a great way to approach it (IMHO).

My wife is diabetic, and usually finds eating easy. The buffet on the Summit is laid out all over, in stations, instead of an easy flow. The salad bar, such as it was, was in the rear. I think they are having supply problems as it wasn’t really extensive.

More power to you if you can manage that...I don't think I can...AND pay more for the privilege...meanwhile, lets all hope they manage to sail on schedule from here on out...with no surprises...

We sail for the first time in almost 3 years in 2 months and I am not setting any expectations. I am just looking forward to relaxing and enjoying whatever is being offered and presented at that time. If I have no preset expectations and take it as a new thing then there is less to disappoint.

Yeah, but none of this should be surprising to anyone. In fact, after all we (the cruise lines customers) and the industry itself have gone through over the last few years, I think they could be doing worse at this stage-all things considered. And while I'm the furthest thing from a "corporate shill", I can understand the cruise lines dilemma. They are all now deeply in debt, and the economic realities are either raise prices, or cut corners wherever they can. They are doing both. And now with inflation hitting the stratosphere and their ongoing labor issues, it's only going to get worse i.e. I'm sorry to say that I believe "you ain't seen nothin yet".

Like Y47, we'll reevaluate after each upcoming cruise (we only have two booked). Personally, because of their predicament I'm giving them leeway regarding the slippage in service(s). But if it gets to the point that our experiences lose value to the point of weather or not its "worth it" in our eyes, then we'll have to choose to either greatly lower our expectations, or take our recreation dollars elsewhere.

well thats the point..I don't think you'll find much of anything "special" anymore....we dont plan to cancel anything we have booked (five of em)...and our next one isnt until October. but I can pretty much guarantee we'll be examining our attitude about what cruising may or may not be worth. We pretty much discount what newbies have to say, since they have no basis for comparison.....no insult, just reality.. when more experienced cruisers come back with these kinds of comments, well....

I wouldn’t rush back to NCL, I just got off the Bliss and the food was nothing special. In my case, I think a lot of the crew seemed to be in training, especially in the dining room.
