Cruise ship Fails CDC inspection, Score of 77 out of 100, minimum passing score is 85

Unfortunately this happens, and it seems most folks ignore it, to their peril. Hopefully the above link works, from a few months ago. Last time, if memory serves, it was NCL BREAKAWAY, with a score from hell. A ship we have cruised on twice so far. It appears they fixed their problems. for now. CARNIVAL, sad to say, has raised the bar for screwing up. Or, better said, lowered it. Their latest run in with a Federal Court Judge proves that what they do is not merely slipshod poor maintenance, its deliberate. Probably to save $$. And THEN it gets covered up.

Thanks for raising this issue again. It seems the cruise lines do as they please, usually to the detriment of their passengers.

It seems Carnival got caught! This is why the inspections are not scheduled and can happen at any time. For that I am most grateful. We like to check the most recent inspection on the ship we will be sailing. I expect a few people to be fired over this one. Of course we will probably never know what happens in the after-action response.

Surprise inspection is the way to keep the cruise industry honest and also aids in ensuring the safety of passengers.

Is it a repeat offense?

Unlikely! When a ship fails, it gets inspected more frequently and it has to pass within a certain amount of time (I can't remember the time span but it is short) or it gets "docked" until the CDC is satisfied the ship can continue.

The infractions are absolutely disgusting! Hopefully all of the fleet will learn from this inspection and will be more diligent about cleanliness and everything else the CDC looks for. Maybe the next inspections will put Carnival ahead of the others, and they will be the cruiseline with top marks. WinkHappy

Some of Carnival's ships have gotten 100's. But I haven't seen that this year.Sad

I think we all know of 1 hotel director that will be brushing up his or her resume

We were on Breakaway last February. Aside from the fact that smoke from the casino covered 3 decks in that area, the ship was fine. They really messed up the muster drill, though. It has been a long long time since we sailed Carnival. If there is such a thing as a bad cruise that was it.
