So I have been juggling the idea of purchasing gift cards for certain cruise lines. I was wondering if anyone has used them to purchase a cruise? My plan was to purchase 1 per month and then when said cruise time comes, just pay it all off with them. Thoughts?

Can they be used to purchase a cruise?

To help with my on board account, I'll be purchasing Carnival Gift Cards a little at a time and use them.
Really makes sense If you can buy them at a discount. Sometimes Publix, Kroger Supermarkets do promos where you can buy gift cards at a discount. I purchase through AARP when they offer them at a discount by redeeming points earned on various quizzes and programs they offer on their web site. The discounts are usually 10%. Some credit cards also offer discounts when you purchase with their card or use points.
I do it all the time to earn bonus points and have had no issues using them. Onboard credits and/or gift cards are great ways to prefund your cruise expenses. Same thing with airlines.
So can you use multiple gift cards to purchase a cruise? I know they sell them in denominations from $100 - $1000. Airlines here in Canada are arseholes about using multiple gift cards and will only allow you to use 2 but it has to pay for the full cost of the flight.
