Could you (should you?) take advantage of the current situation for future cruises?

Since we had to pay another $500 deposit to re-book, we're going to take whatever we recieve up and above the cost of the cruise that we re-booked to take a short cruise in Mid December.

Yes, that is correct but they have raised the rates considerably so the extra 25% does help; for the same itinerary we had on the cancelled 4/3 Celebrity cruise, we will still owe about $500. We'll wait to see if prices drop since we have until 12/21.

I would say go for it once this is under control. You may be able to get some great deals. I cruised shortly after 9/11 and they were basically giving away cruises. I even got upgraded to a suite for FREE!

It is my understanding, and I could be wrong, you would only receive the 125% benefit if you leave all of the money you paid out ( paid in full ) and rebook. If you want your full refund you get 100% back, but not the perk. Am I correct in this ?

I don't see any deception here. If they are booking cruises for a month from now and you will sail if they do, then I don't see any problem at all.

Very interesting proposition. If someone has the time and availability they may want to consider this. But unfortunately for those of us still tied to a job short term changes in vacations and scheduling are not always an option and if we are able to do A short term change doing it several times can be a career limiting move.

We were invited to join some friends on a cruise May 23rd. We declined because the air fare was outrageous. Then the air fare became half we really considered it even if the cruise got cancelled; because then we would have credit for a future cruise. Decided against taking advantage of the situation. However, if you have the time and patience to take advantage, I see no reason not to. My DH is not good with ambiguity.

I have been on 136 cruises , I just canceled 3 and have one more in October , I hope I do not have to cancel that one

Agreed. we have 4 booked, starting in Nov. I'll take advantage every chance I get. Theres no damage done. Been playing this game long enough. This WILL end, one way or another. Someone will come up with a vaccine not just to help if you get it, but try to prevent it.
