Coffee on Carnival

Hey all, I am one who enjoys his coffee. I find the buffet coffee on most cruise ships terrible. On Princess i buy the coffee card.

How is the coffee on Carnival. i know they have a coffee bar, do they sell a card?

We just drink what is in the dining room and the buffet, it tastes great to us.  We are not coffee experts.  Don't know if Carnival has a coffee card or not.  They got a soda and booze card tho.  They have a coffee bar on deck5

Here is what I suggest you do.  When you first board, find the coffee cafe.  This is where the bulk of your funds will go.

I think the coffee on Carnival is great! The coffee bar has great speciality coffees, and the speciality coffees are covered under the Cheers card that Carnival offers. The Cheers card also covers your alcohol, sodas and milkshakes. The only thing I wish Carnival had was flavoured creamers, at least in the dining room. The bottomless bubbles card only covers sodas.

IMO, Lido buffet coffee--nasty

MDR coffee--good

Room service coffee--good

Coffee bar--HEAVEN.  Be sure and ask for a punch card.  You can buy six and get the seventh free.  They used to give them automatically, but our last couple of cruises we have had to ask for them

On one of our cruises the coffee from one machine on the Lido was horrible, but the other machines were ok. I think the machine needed a really good cleaning . Last spring on the Sunshine the coffee was the same in the MDR as on the Lido and room service,  which we enjoyed more than ever before. We've never bought coffee from the coffee bar since the Lido is fine.

I have found that the coffee takes up room that is better used by rum.

That being said, the Lido coffee is fine for early morning, but then again I am not a coffee connoisseur. I am used to bad coffee brewed over a campfire, or out of C Ration packets. (I think that may be what the Lido coffee is).

This has been our experience as well.  However, now and again the coffee on the Lido is OK.  Danyalnc has the right idea, and the coffee doesn't count against the number of drinks (unless of course, it is laced with a nice alcohol).

I know this has nothing to do with Carnival.

Like Bubba54 - we are believers in the Princess coffee card. Every cruise we use one card and if any punches are left over on the last day, I give the card to someone in line behind me, usually a family or at least a couple.

I really enjoy walking down to the International Cafe first thing in the morning talking to the crew and getting a specialty (mocha chocolate latte whatever) and taking them back to our cabin for coffee on the balcony. Sometimes, I get a nice thank you from my wife.

On the Royal class ships, they have a special coffee location at the Horizons Cafe (less walk, same benefits). Wink

I too love the Princess Coffee Card but you may not know this ... the card is good on your next cruise... I've had cruises where I've burned through the whole card and others where I had punches left and use it on the next cruise ... the fine print on the card says it's okay to do that Happy

Thanks all, appreciate the info.
