Best Carnival Ship

Best Carnival ship so far. Very contemporary design. Lots of dining and entertainment options. Cove balcony was great. Be sure to download the Carnival Hub app to your phone. It makes it easy to find activities and includes maps to guide your way.

December 2017 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Valor

It's a big ship but it doesn't feel that way

We were looking for an anniversary cruise for the end of December. This 5 day cruise to Cozumel and Progreso fit our schedules and was a welcome break from the cold. The Valor is a big ship, but we never felt crowded.

Break from the Summer Heat

A great family vacation. Easy trip with little planning needed. The Lido deck on this smaller ship wasn't too crowded, especially if you went early for breakfast and lunch. The scenery was beautiful, especially cruising through the fjords to the Tracy glacier. The ride was smooth as we were not too far out to sea. Embarkation/debarkation at the ports was pretty easy as well.

The is the Tracy Glacier from our balcony. The ship spends a few hours here as people get off for a close up excursion.

Cruise tips

Belize City, Belize

Went on a snorkeling excursion to swim with sting rays and sharks. Great time in the water. Excursion left and returned from the ship instead of the port so we didn't have time to go to the Belize port.

Galveston, Texas

Embarkation only

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Went on an ATV excursion with beach trip that was great.

Cozumel, Mexico

Went to Nachi Cocom for a day of beach time. Great beach, food, and drinks.

It;'s a good port, but we only took a taxi to a private beach so we didn't see a lot of the city.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

A very poor area of Jamaica. The port shopping was extremely limited. We did the Community Tour which was nice.

Galveston, Texas

Traffic around the port is horrible. They supposedly have staggered check-in times but no one was outside giving instructions. Everyone just got in a huge line outside and shuffled toward the door to the building. More mazes inside the building.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Beautiful port. Felt like a safe area. But very expensive. Lunch at Da Fish Shack for two was $93.

Carnival Vista

Don't book an early excursion. The lines to get off the ship early are horrible.
