Casino Smoke

A common thread that I see in the forums and in the ship reviews is smoke from the casino permeating to other areas of the ship. It seems to be common on all ships and across all lines. One poster even commented that this will never change because cruise lines do not want alienate ANY of their passengers.

Yesterday (11/11/2020) Celebrity sent an email introducing their newest ship, the Celebrity Apex. In the announcement it mentions "a smoke-free {casino} environment". I am wondering if anyone knows of any other ships that are offering this?

There was a time when most of the RCI ships had a cigar lounge. It was very nicely appointed and a comfortable space to an adult beverage with a cigar. You could walk past the room, on the outside and never smell anything. The rooms must have had an incredible ventilation system. It seems to me that something similar could be done in the casinos, so that smokers and non-smokers alike could enjoy their gaming without infringing on the other.

Every cruise I go on, I miss those cigar lounges.

Bump

I hope they do, I gag every time I have to walk through the casino!

That's really good news!!!

Last time I sailed on Celebrity Solstice ( a few years ago), the company rule was no smoking anywhere indoors, including the casino.

Hi, i am a non smoker so i find it handy that on some of the ships i have been on they do occasional smoke free night in the casino's which is good. Nothing against smokers i just don't like sitting in a smoke filled room.

For anyone listening, if you can't stand smoke(like me) DON"T go on the NCL Breakaway. The smoke was disgusting.

It sure was, back in the day. not sure just how far back your cruise on BREAKAWAY was...complete non-smoking went into effect 1/17...been on her several times way more recently than that. we noticed an improvement in the casino smoke, but still an annoyance. (see mine in this thread about exercising care in cabin selection)......having said that, one of the alleged improvements in the age of COVID is supposed to be a massive series of upgrades fleetwide to their ventilation system(s)...of the 4 we have scheduled in 2022, two on are on her...april & nov if memory serves...i'm sure other folks in here will be aboard her long before our first one in the spring, and I would be interested to read if any of those ventilations improvements exist, and made a difference...

As far as kids, that has been a sore spot with us for many years...other peoples misbehaved children (notice I didn't use several other terms for them I REALLY wanted to type) can easily ruin what could have been a pleasant cruise. Not going to debate who is responsible. Its unlikely they behave any differently at home. We have learned to look the other way. It takes practice...those parents get to go home with them...we don't.
