Carnival vacation protection plan

Has anyone bought Carnivals vacation protection plan and used it? I've been wondering how other's experience have been? Did they pay after filing a claim?

I have never bought a cruise protection plan & so far never needed it. Check around for other plans before you purchase Carnival's plan. It is always good to compare.

We purchased travel insurance from our homeowners/auto insurance company. It was less than the price of Carnival. Shop around and pick the one that fits you best. I may or may not be Carnival. You never know what may happen, making your need to cancel a cruise. Sometimes we are like GIL 155, and take the chance we may need to forfeit the dollars spent other times we buy insurance... and we have used it when needed. Good luck!

I agree with the others who suggested shopping around for the insurance. Carnivals is limited, won't cover the extra time if you have anymore or post cruise etc. Read the fine print before purchasing any insurance to be sure of what's covered and what's not.

CSA is who I had used, It has paid out to me more then I have paid for it on all the cruises I have taken. You do not have to be a senior for it to pay off. 2 days before my 45th B-day I blew a disc and had to cancel a cruise, 1 form and one doctors slip that I was set for spine surgery and they paid out. Another time I got the Flu the night before a cruise and no way I would have been let on a plane or a ship the way I felt and looked, 1 doctors note and they paid for the Cruise, hotel and air lines.

Travel insurance is not just for the seniors.

I use CSA and I filed one claim and the total amount was covered. I will get travel insurance every time and so far the one claim I needed to filed, paid back more than the money I paid for insurance on my earlier cruises.

No, and No. I book a cruise. I go, or forfeit. To date - always gone. Insurance for others - not me today, this year.

10 years from now - MAYBE!!!

I agree with the other posters. Carnival's insurance is limited and rather expensive for what you get. I go to either tripinsurancestore.com or insuremytrip.com and check out the policies there. I have always found much better coverage for a lower price.

If you are interested in medical coverage, then you can most certainly do better than Carnival's policy.

I've only cruised twice and bought Carnivals vacation insurance. I was wondering how other people experience were, if they made a claim. I'll check vacationstogo though, thanks.

I always use "protection"

Now when it comes to a cruise vacation, I think Carnival just covers the cruise, not the air fare or pre-booked hotel. I have used the travel insurance that covers the full trip that I bought through Vacationstogo.com. I have had to put in claims a couple times and with a medical note from my doctor it was not trouble getting a full refund on the cruise, the flights and the hotel.

There are other protection plans out other than Carnival and I suggest you do a little research before settling.
