Can somebody explain the roll calls?

So I joined the roll call for my cruise but I don't see a thread or a discussion....where do I find the actual roll call discussion now that I have joined it?

Thanks for the help!

Im glad I'm not the only one who finds ROSTERS "underwhelming". I log in so the countdown clock works, and for no other reason. I do NOT trust FACEBOOK at all. I value my online privacy, such as it is, and have no intention of helping give it away.

As to its actual use, I am am the GETAWAY 11/8 cruise. That's #22 for is. there are 145 cruisers who have joined, with only a handful of actual posts. And a few of those were from AUNT PINKIE trying to be helpful. I have complained to the powers that be that I do NOT receive email notifications of any posts in there, and was assured quite awhile ago the "quality control team" was addressing it. It still hasn't been fixed. If I don't occasionally go to look, I wouldn't know if anyone posted. Not that Im missing much it seems. FWIW, we have NEVER been lacking in "social contacts" on any cruise we've been on, not counting the first one a thousand years ago when we were lucky to find our heads with both hands. I assume the skill set it takes to do that without being online is a lost art.

On the Roll Call for my upcoming cruise, so far there is only one comment also, and thats again relating to Facebook. Everyone has their preferences, I personally do not, for want of a better word, "like" FB.

Me? (Trying to look innocent.)Surprised

Never known AP to stir thing up! LOL

It's quite odd. It's roll call on the back star shows 39 joined. But no conversation amongst anyone. Hmmm

I think that people joining the FB page for their cruise, has lessened the amount of posts to roll calls on the forums.

Great thread. I joined Cruiseline.com because I saw there were 4 people in roll call for a cruise we are on next year. My wife started aroll call for our cruise on another forum/board and has been the only person to on it for 4 months.

To my surprise, on the roll call here at cruiseline.com, there's no discussion. Kind of weird but I guess not everyone views roll call the same way. I guess I am just happy to know of others going on our cruise.

I just join them all, wherever I encounter them, and then see who wants to chat about what. I like getting to know my fellow passengers before the cruise, but I'm not big on making lots of plans. I cruise to relax and unwind, so I intentionally avoid over-developed itineraries.

Also, my soonest cruise is still nine and a half months away, with four others up to thirty seven and a half months away. So, most people aren't too talkative/active on my roll calls yet.

Sane with our Feb 23, 2020 cruise on the NCL Encore. Brand new ship! Doesn't even sail until November. You would think people would be excited about it.

You're preaching to the choir. I have one coming up too, and over 120 have joined it, but almost no posts. And I have to go look "manually" because they're still working on email notifications not working properly. Its not very well structured for "conversations", but even so.
