Camera question.

Hey all, I have been carrying two DSLR'S and several lenses for years. I am ready to downsize and looking for a nice point & shoot. I admit I prefer Sony products but am open to anything. I would like a decent zoom range.

So well seasoned travelers/cruisers, what do you carry and recommend to a newbie to point and shoots.

Thanks in advance.

Just went out and bought the Canon Power Shot Elph360HS. Since the Elph that I had is no longer made this comes close. I don't need to be photographer as I really only want snap shots of our adventures. This camera is light weight and small (not as small as the one I had). It has a nice size screen and we have always had goo luck with the Canon cameras we have owned. My DH was feeling a bit guilty for breaking mine and wanted to get it replaces quickly. Love

P.S. The reason using the cell phone is not an option for me....I still have a flip phone.

I am happy with my Panasonic DMC-ZS30 LUMIX. It has a Leica lens 20xFull HD.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I have never thought of just using my phone. Have some thinking to doHappy

My phone is kept on airplane mode so I'm not being charged for using it, and it takes better photos than my camera.

So happy you started this thread. My Cannon Elph was broken on our cruise and I'm looking for a replacement. i will miss this little camera and hope to find one as good. As far as using the phone... I put the phone in the safe and leave it there for the cruise, so not an option.Surprised

I have a nice little Nikon point and shoot that works awesome with 16 mega "pickles" LOL. Great camera and decent zoom. I take it everywhere

Thanks- we are really excited to be going to see the planes too. We booked the tour through this site and they guarantee getting us back to the ship on time. Sony camera it is , for the day.

When the larger planes are taking off, the flying sand is an issue. Maho Beach is beautiful. I paid more attention to the planes than anything. I use the Sony cyber-shot when not wanting to lug the Nikon DSLR around. Enjoy your trip!

I wasn't going to even take my camera on our upcoming cruise, and just use my cell phone, but when we are at Maho Beach I think I'd rather use an older camera in case the sand blowing from the aircraft flying just above the beach, ruins it. I'd rather not have to replace my phone.
