Repositioning Cruise
Norwegian Dawn
Sail date: October 30, 2015
We enjoy cruising with NCL, and on the Dawn. We've always had a good time, and love to meet the crew and the folks that make it all happen. We have noticed cut backs, more each cruise. This year the pizza delivery was discontinued, a big disappointment. Room service went from $0 to $8 per delivery, and that took care of that. The buffet is always good, but quite repetitive. Encountered a few issues with our cabin, that also seems to be becoming commonplace. The people who deserve the biggest accolades are the ones behind the scenes that passengers never see, they work the hardest. The bar crew is always the best, whether or not ordering beverages. They are fun and friendly, entertaining, they like to have a good time and genuinely enjoy meeting people from all over. Unfortunately bar prices also increased significantly, not good. Entertainment on the pool deck was very good this cruise, but not enough of it. For a Caribbean cruise we want to be out by the pool bar and enjoy live music offerings. More activities are needed on deck. The repositioning cruise is attended by a more senior set, therefore deck activities seem to be lacking. The ports were enjoyable, have visited most several times now, a little more diversity is always welcome. Very little interaction with cruise director's staff and Officers, not much visibility on deck. We had a good time, met some great folks, reunited with old friends, we laughed, we ate, we drank. Third repositioning cruise, will consider a different itinerary next time around.

Nice to see some familiar faces, always nice to see crew members from past years. Nice cruise for people who have not cruised, cruised to Bermuda, 20's & 30's & 40'sĀ passengers. We were spoiled for many years with a smaller ship that docked in St. Georges. Change is not always good. Larger ships, more peopleĀ = lines and waiting. Dining in specialty restaurants offers great food, but can't indulge every night it's just too much.

Always a pleasure to sail on the NCL Dawn.
Cruise tips
Pretty place. Just walked locally off the pier and visited a few shops and outdoor cafe. Enjoyed some of the island pets, the green velvet monkeys, adorable.
Live locally, love it!
Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.
We were re-routed to St. Thomas. Would have liked to see St. Croix. Read article online that St. Croix people were very disappointed that our itinerary was changed last minute as they had worked very hard preparing for the ship's arrival. Had visited St. Thomas before. Dislike the main street very much with all the gem stores, waste of time and too commercial. Visited local Smokeys BBQ Tiki Bar. Food looked great! Several line workers from the States were at the bar for lunch and it was obvious they visited often on lunch break as the food is good. Bar/restaurant was not quite prepared for the influx from the ship, in dire need of more employees. Food looked great, local drinks not so much. Hopefully will be better in time as recovery progresses.
Pretty little island. Not crazy about the art deco hotel at the pier, it detracts from the waterfront. Enjoyed walking about town, shops and interesting streets, somewhat of a language barrier with vendors.
3rd visit to San Juan, however not to this pier. We did not spend much time in San Juan. Airport was up and running and comfortable while waiting for flight.
Enjoyed St Lucia very much, beautiful island, wonderful people. Hired a recommended local to take us around and it was a great day! We got to meet many islanders and spend time enjoying the island life. Best experience of the cruise.
Norwegian Dawn
Try Bamboo, Moderno, Cagney's & Los Lobos if possible.
Just walked locally off the pier. Enjoyed this visit more than last our visit. Pleased that vendors were less pushy this visit.
Norwegian Dawn
Recommend the repositioning cruise on the Dawn, more relaxed atmosphere, less of a focus on the beverage package. Unfortunately, we have experienced passengers who do not enjoy the island music offered on the pool deck on these cruises. Can't please everybody.
Love the people! One day hope that Jamaica is more friendly, and as attractive as other Caribbean islands, and the vendors less aggressive. People will spend more and visit more if shopping and browsing is more pleasant. A beautiful island, want to see more.
Norwegian Dawn
Prefer smaller ships. Do not care to cruise on the larger ships with 3,000 passengers. Enjoy meeting and getting to know the staff who work so hard for the passengers. Bigger ships are too overwhelming to navigate.
