Many cruise lines have announced that all ships in their fleet are again back at sea. After a multi-year pause in operations, these updates are a welcoming sign for travelers and the cruise industry.

MSC Cruises was the first mainstream cruise line to announce it would offer cruises after its operations paused due to the pandemic. In August 2020, MSC Grandiosa began sailing the Mediterranean from Genoa, Italy. In North America, Celebrity Cruises made a splash as the first line to sail in the Caribbean, with Celebrity Millennium resuming cruises from Philipsburg, St. Maarten, on June 5, 2021. Celebrity was also the first cruise line given the green light from the CDC to resume one of its ships from the United States. On June 26, 2021, Celebrity Edge began cruising from Port Everglades, the first ship to sail from a U.S. port in over fifteen months.

Since then, cruise lines have methodically brought ships back into operations worldwide. Following are the cruise lines' fleet sailing status and the anticipated timing for those lines yet to have all their ships back in operation:

Azamara: Azamara marked the full return of its ships on May 26, 2022. Azamara Journey was the last vessel to resume operations, now sailing the Mediterranean from Athens.
