Great First Cruise
Just got off the ship this morning and we had a great time. It is an older ship, so you will see some wear and tear in spots. I'm hoping that RC will spruce it up if they plan to keep it. I can't say enough about the great crew! Susan, the cruise director, is quite the entertainer--and her lovely Scottish accent is adorable. Moe, the hotel director, is a hoot! Our stateroom attendant was constantly cleaning. The restaurant staff treated us like royalty. There's almost always something going on--trivia games, scavenger hunts, game shows, etc. If you go in with a fun attitude, you'll have a good time. If you are a picky person, this is not the cruise for you.

We booked an excursion where we snorkeled in sight of the ship. Don’t forget a towel and a comb! There’s s place to change, but don’t bring any valuables unless you have someone to watch them. You’ll be leaving your bag at the beach while snorkeling. They’ll take underwater pictures of you. Then we visited an authentic Mexican restaurant and drove around the island. We drove a little dune buggy. It was a blast! There’s also plenty of shopping, but the vendors aren’t quite as pushy as the ones in Nassau.
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
We didn’t do an excursion here. Just embarked and debarked. It’s crowded and took almost an hour from the time we got in our car and got out of the parking garage. Make sure you use the bathroom and grab a drink because it’s a long process. Also, when you park, note the level you’re parked on. Or, if you’re smart, you’ll mark the location of your car on your GPS app. Several of us came off the ship disoriented because we came back to a different dock.
Do not get off the boat as soon as it docks to your Key West. Many things won’t be open. Being November, we should’ve taken a jacket as it was windy and cool. Take the trolley and try to get Kevin as your driver. He’s knowledgeable and witty. Honestly, if you aren’t much of a drinker, Key West might be a let down. Parts of it are a bit like the French Quarter. But there’s always the Little White House, Hemingway House, and Butterfly Consevatory. If you want to get a picture of yourself at the 0 Mike Marker, get there early or be prepared to stand in line.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)
Drink LOTS of water! A guy passed out on our boat coming back from the island. Don't let yourself get dehydrated!
Stores don't open until 9:00 or 9:30. If you're going to shop, there's no need to get out too early. People will bombard you as soon as you get to the gate. Politely walk past if you can. The Hard Rock Cafe has free wifi (unfortunately, it was down the day we were there). Stick to the tourist areas. If something or someone seems sketchy, stay away.
Majesty of the Seas
Make sure you bring any items you'll need onboard. There are a few sundries (very limited) available in the duty free store that sells tobacco and alcohol. But their hours of operation are limited to while you are at sea. So make sure you have plenty of toiletries and OTC meds.
