Good ship and good management.

We just returned from our first Alaska cruise and our first time sailing with HAL. (Five previous cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico with other lines) We were impressed with the very attentive service, yet unobtrusive feeling of HAL. We didnt feel like we were constantly listening to an advertisement for daily activities, hours things were open or bar/spa specials (always given this on the daily program). Beyond the ship, Alaska is the most spectacularly beautiful place I have ever visited. I was in awe each day at the beautiful scenery in each port (Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan), Glacier Bay and Tracy Arm. I had a highlight of my life experience almost every day: dog sledding on a glacier, calving glaciers, eagles catching fish, spotting whales, flight-seeing over an ice field. It was almost too fantastic to be believed. I would highly recommend the HAL Alaska Inside Passage cruise as a great first experience to see what Alaska has to offer. Well be going again.

The ship was very well organised and communication was valuable, timely but not intrusive. The staff were very helpful and friendly and professional. There was a high emphasis on making us feel special and pampered. Everything we encountered was of an extremely high standard. Cleanliness throughout the ship was exceptional. Our cabin was roomy and the balcony well used by us. The variety of eating options was also greatly appreciated. In all, the experience was extremely positive and we would recommend this ship to anyone.

This was our second cruise on the Zuiderdam and we loved it. The ship and staff were wonderful. The ports were great with lots to do, just not quit enought time at the ports.

The people working on the ship were great all very profesional and very very friendly.

Ship board additional port charges were added to our bill at the end of the cruise...we never received the onboard savings booklet when we arrived on the ship or during the cruise....shore excursion was not reimbursed when it was not up to expectations...a Jennifer in customer relations was not helpful at all.

The cruise was wonderful. We were so fortunate to have perfect weather. The ports were good, but would like less days at sea.

We really loved our balcony room! How great to have a tub along with a shower! Enjoyed each and every bar and the staff on the ship was superb. The glass elevators on the outside of the ship provided great views and were ever so enjoyable. The dining room was lovely and our food mediocre.

The ship is great for 60 plus.....it is a bit drab and needs a goog clean and polish...the cabins are tired and drab The food and service is superb The entertainment is very good It lacks a 24 hour snack bar and room services takes orever

I enjoyed the ship all on board were ver friendly and helpful. The only problem was boarding. They had to clean the whole ship due to sickness so it took forever to board. Our food was wonderful and service great. Our group ate on the Lido most of the time to long a wait in the dinning room.

Food was Great, Staff Great, Seattle let us down, Travel Agent did not follow through, costing us $200 OBC, that other agency gave out (I will go there next time), and $200 on price.

Not up to Holland America's usual standards. Open seating concept is terrible, can't make reservations, no one answers the reservation phones. had to eat in Lido first two nights, then switched to fixed seating. Movie theatre has 32 seats for a 1,900 passenger ship, this is rediculus. Thanksgiving dinner was terrible, Maybe early seating was better because not much was left for late seating. Only saving grace was the wonderful staff serving the people and cleaning the rooms. l

We just got home from a 10 Holland America cruise on the Ziederdam. It is one of the smaller ships which is nice with about 1,800 passengers. I would not recommend this cruise on this ship and will add detail in areas listed below.

The ship itself is nice. It is beautifully decorated and very tastefull. The art is exceptional and the sculptures around the ship were nice. Common areas were clean and well kept.

The ship is very luxury, friendly personal, good food all the day over, a very good stateroom, more than we expected, very, very friendly hut-steward. Many old American people!! Shows and singersgroup very good, but the dancefloor oppertunities are not so many. We disliked the paintinggallery, we made a trip with the Costa Concordia and bought three paintings on board, this time it was a little bit rubbish

Beautiful ship with a good layout. Easy to find your way around.

Smaller than the mega-ships, but with lots to offer in the way of service, efficiency, food and fun. Seven families travelled together so there were many opportunities for fun - despite initial concerns with this line being geared to "older" groups - we all enjoyed ourselves immensely and rated this a top pick for cruises!
