Review summary

5 Star experience across the board!! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to visit the Northeast and Canada. Most of the cruisers with us were older and almost no kids. Food was fantastic, everything and everyone was just awesome!! Thank you Zaandam crew!

Excellent, organized, efficient, and FAST!!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Awesome!!! We gained 10 lbs at least :( but its a vacation - right!! Definitely check out the Main Dining room, 5-start service and food was better than the buffet, a little better... the buffet was great!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Fall trip, so no outside activities. However, the comedian, singers, dancers and performers were top notch!!

Service and Staff

We can't compliment them enough!! Room stewards, bar tenders, security, EVERYONE is so nice and professional!! 5 STAR for sure!!

Ship Quality

Awesome!!! Zaandam is a little smaller than most other cruise ships but that means less people, less traffic, less waiting and BETTER service!!! Love it!

Cabin / Stateroom

Clean and everything was great!!

Ship tip

Pick a location room location that works best for your needs. If most of your time is going to be spent in the front of the boat get a room in the front. We picked a spot about halfway (front to back and top to bottom) right by the elevator - worked out awesome!

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
Get there a day in advance!! Ship boards early and once on board you can't get back off - in Boston anyway. Maybe even spend two days before departure. Freedom trail, North end and Boston Common are a must!

Bar Harbor, Maine

Great!! Get out of the main stream of traffic and eat where the locals eat - Dog and Pony was fantastic!!

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Great!! We did the bus tour but the walking tour would have also been great!! Lots to learn about the Titanic, Navy battles, etc.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

Cool place!! Kinda small and not much to see but get out and walk around. One of the oldest ports on the East Coast, we did the historic ghost tour, it was neat!!

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Did not visit port

Bad weather, safety decision by the Captain

Cruise Gulf Of St. Lawrence

5 out of 5
Not a port call but a sea day (two since we didn't stop in Charlottetown). Get out of your room and learn the boat, go to the gym, the spa, the pool. See days are fun with lots to do!

Quebec City, Quebec

5 out of 5
My Favorite!! Tons of cool history, architecture, culture, art, shops and food!! Spend a good amount of time here and do the bus tour, plus walking tour.

Cruise St. Lawrence River

Awesome sites of the starboard side!! Whales and amazing sunset!! Get out of your room on sea days and enjoy the boat and activities!!

Montreal, Quebec

Awesome!! After we got off the boat we went to the hotel and stayed an extra day, definitely do the bus tour and walk around downtown. Hotels are not far from old Montreal!

Disembarkation

Awesome! Shocked it went so smooth with over 1000 people trying to get off and get thier luggage. Perfect, I think it took 5 minutes from exit to taxi ride!! Super efficient at all port calls!! Awesome!
