Review summary

ship was very crowded!  long lines for everything.  service in staterooms was slow, often had to wait 30-60 minutes to get ice.  Casino was crowded all the time.  difficult to find on open machine.  very difficult to get service in the casino (understaffed?).  Lido deck was so crowded it was difficult to find a place to eat.  often had to take our food back to the room just so we could sit and eat.  Smoking is no longer allowed on the balconies.  We asked for open dinning, were assigned an 8pm dinner time.  no flexibility on this once you are on the ship.  Evening shows were not the best.  Only stayed for one.  plus with an 8pm dinnner time the only option we had was the late show.  these were crowded too.  often didnt stay for the show because there was no seating.

paid the addition fee for a balcony so I could smoke on it. learned after I was on the ship that this was no longer allowed. could have saved myself alot of money but booking an inboard cabin instead.

Ship tip

dont book a balcony if you think you can smoke on it.

Sounds like you had no luck with anything

Loved the Westerdam. consider dining poolside, usually overflow seating and pleasant surroundings, as the Lido deck can experience beautiful mealtime sunrises/sunsets.

Yes ships have a lot of people. Remember crowds happen when too many people try to do the same thing at the same time. Try to choose activities/times outside of the norm. You would have been miserable with open seating crowds around 7:00 pm
