Westerdam Review

Sail Date: January 31, 2015

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The Westerdam is an older, smaller ship and therefore does not have all the perks the newer, larger  ships have.  Overall our cruise was very enjoyable.  Our cabin, while a little smaller than on the newer ships, was nice.  We had a balcony cabin and really enjoyed having coffee on the balcony most mornings.

The meals both in the main dining room and in the buffet were just okay.  The buffet food was often cold so we ate in the dining room as much as possible.  No lobster tail - what's up with that?

Our wait staff was not the best we have had and had to continually ask for coffee. Often times we did not receive our coffee until dessert was served even though we ask for it when we were seated.

The entertainment was very good and we did enjoy that.  Superbowl Sunday they did not have entertainment or much going on because they used the theater for the football game.  We were upset because we are not football fans and there was not much else to do!!

The casino was too smokey, I thought most ships were non-smoking except for designated areas.

Destinations and Excursions
Cabin / Stateroom
Our cabin was quite small, but it was okay and we really enjoyed our balcony. Our cabin stewards were great.
Grand Turk Island
We took an island tour and really enjoyed that. Grand Turk is a great location and the beach and pool are great if you choose to relax on the beach.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
We have been to San Juan quite a few times so we just got off and walked around, however there is a lot to do in this port
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
We really enjoy St. Maarten - the shopping and the beaches are great!!
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
The island itself is very nice normally, however on this day we had rain and cold weather so we could not enjoy the island.
