Another great Holland America cruise

Sail Date: January 24, 2015

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

The entire staff was always very friendly and willing to help.  Their team spends a lot of time cleaning and the ship was spotless.  Food was great and there was a wide variety of choices, both in the dining room and at the buffet.  Many activities were offered to keep you busy every day.  It was a very enjoyable 7 days!

Ship Quality
Everything was clean all over the ship, room was nice.
Food and Dining
Many choices in the dining room and the buffet, all food was great.
Service and Staff
Everybody was friendly and greeted you always. Our room steward, Riyo, was extra nice. The Martini Bar tender, Sam, made the tastings a very enjoyable evening - funny and knowledgeable.
Fantastic shows, the people were so talented.
Children's Programs Did not use these.
Onboard Activities
Almost too much to do, you had to pick and choose and miss some things.
Destinations and Excursions
San Juan and Charlotte Amolie were very nice. Dock was right in town and you could walk easily around. Did not take any excursions as I felt they were a bit too expensive. May reconsider next time, however there was a lot to see in walking distance.
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
Parking right next to the dock, very convenient. However, quite expensive. $15 a day for my larger pickup truck.
Grand Turk Island
Didn't take a tour, many vendors at the dock area.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Very easy to walk around and see the sights. There is a free shuttle that runs around the town.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Great little town and easy to walk around. Quite a bit to see.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
If a beach and swimming is your thing, this is great! Can do a self guided walking tour to see some of the things on the island. Paid tours gave you more to see.

Had open seating for dinner and that made it very convenient. However, we felt it took too much time so ate at the buffet mostly. Some better choices in the dinning room, but the food in the buffet was great. All drink purchases had an added gratuity (15% I think), so no need to tip.
