Review summary

Overall, we gave the cruise a B+. The ship was beautiful and the food / service were superb. The elevators were a constant problem, and many times a crowd gathered because of operational issues with the elevators, some of which were out of order frequently. We were disappointed we missed two ports. The lack of onboard activities was a disappointment. We would consider taking another Oceania cruise in a warmer climate, so we could fully utilize the pool and related activities.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We have taken 75 cruises and the food/drink on this cruise was the best we have ever had.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Not enough activities on board, particularly if weather was inclement. Team trivia was excellent, and lectures were OK.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Comedienne was fabulous. Production shows were OK. Two production shows were canceled due to rough seas. Biggest downside to cruise was there was only one show nightly. Since specialty restaurant reservations were not available until 8 or 8:30, we couldn't see the show on several nights. First cruise we have ever taken with only one show each night.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service and staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship is absolutely gorgeous. However, with only two elevator banks and one of which only descended to deck six, it was very inconvenient. We were aft, and we couldn't get to portions of the ship on deck five without taking the stairs unless we walked to the forward elevators and backtracked after descending. Unfortunately, the theater is VERY poorly designed -- the sight lines are terrible. This issue was raised by everyone we spoke to!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was excellent, although a little more storage space would have been nice.

Ship tip

Try all of the specialty restaurants -- they are truly superb.

Bar Harbor, Maine

Highlights tour was OK.

Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts Did not visit port

Weather prevented anchoring and tender. Very disappointed. On other cruises we have taken, we received a refund of the port taxes, but we did not receive such a refund for this. Not sure why.

New York, New York

5 out of 5
Superb tour of 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

Charleston, South Carolina

4 out of 5
Did not take our chosen tour because the weather was poor. However, we got off the ship in the afternoon after the weather cleared and the port was very good.

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Terminus of cruise. Returned home after disembarkation.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Our disembarkation was delayed by almost an hour due to inclement weather. When exiting the terminal after leaving the ship, only one elevator was operating and the escalators / stairs were not available. This caused delays on top of the delays caused by the weather.
