not as good as it used to be by experienced

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

check in, cleanliness, food, service overall leaves much to be addressed.

The good and wonderful cruises are past! Nowadays it all about money, money

the cruise lines try to squeeze out every dime they can get their hands on. It will backfire in due time.

same goes for cleanliness -  it is simply not there anymare.

Goog but avoid the 2000 cabins in forward part of ship by ramettadan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

The forward cabins at the lowest level (2000) are over some of the ship's machinery, including the trash compacter, and they loudly dump glass bottles and run the trash compactor machinery during the hours of 12 midnight to 6 AM--terrible awakening noise.  I complained twice, at 2:30 AM to Isadora at the service desk and then another time called security at 4:30 AM.  They came to the cabin and said they would go down & tell them to stop.  Nothing happened.

Food was good and entertainment GREAT but we were half asleep a lot of the time.

Get a cabin in the mid-ship area or on level 3--avoid the front of the ship on the lower level.

Royal didnt disappoint by shady

Great cruise for a great price, not much was wrong. Only issue was the random door opening by security claiming it was door checks that none of the guests were aware of.

So-So cruise/Old Boring Ship by CoupleCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

All the ports were wonderful but the ship was very boring. No fun activities or things to do... Same ol trivia and shows each day. Staff was great and hospitable especially Waiter Evangelisto, Head Waiter Amit and Assistant Waiter Shakti!!! I would endure this again just for them! Loved those guys, they made a lasting impression:-)

Mayan Delight by cathysoltero

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is a smaller, older but well maintained ship and by far, my favorite. The smaller ship eliminated most of the things I don't use on a larger ship and allowed guests who participated in the same type of activities to get to know one another more intimately to the point of becoming friends. I participated in my first "flash mob" and all the dance classes and opportunities to dance without a partner as my husband has a bad back that prevents him from participating. I loved the shops where I got to become friendly with the staff and got very personalized attention. I found enough to do on the ship during the days at sea or when I returned early from excursions and enjoyed the night time entertainment.

If you're an adrenaline junkie or 3 Red Bulls a day kind of person, this is not your ship though the itinerary may still be to your liking. If you want to engage with other passengers, read, relax or just maintain your regular exercise routine of running/walking, gym, swimming, Zumba and dance this ship could be an economical choice. The Centruim area allowed for most everyone to enjoy presentations there whether participating on deck 4 or spectating from decks 5-9. This was especially nice for older passengers or those with limited mobility who couldn't fully participate but wanted to be included.

The staff were especially good on this ship from the Captain on down. He was the most accessible and friendly Captain to date. The dining room staff is always good but I was equally impressed with the staff at the Windjammer. One of the best parts of travel is getting to know other cultures and people we might not otherwise meet and the intimacy of the ship allowed several staff members to share their culture with us while maintaining a high level of service.

We enjoyed all the ports of call and excursions. The Mayan culture was prominent in most of the excursions in which we participated including our visit to Channuknab Park to swim with the sea lions. We had a later flight home and took a tour of Tampa before we left which we enjoyed so much so that we will return to the city on vacation during hockey season to see our local team play the Lightening.

Refreshed and Renewed... by weezietoo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was everything we wanted--relaxing and adventurous. Food was delicious, service was outstanding, excursions were awesome, and the shows were entertaining, especially the comedians. Most memorable part is all the wonderful folks we met from the the ship's crew to the locals on our shore excursions to fellow cruisers. People were so kind, funny, and interesting! I wanted to bring the whole experience home with me!

Vision of the Seas delivers a fantastic vacation by AugustWest

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Excellent crew from the Captain on down - very professional, yet fun.  The Captain's leadership by example was evident throughout with rock music performances to pool volleyball - not just pictures before dinner.  Our stateroom attendant was great - entire cabin kept fresh and clean - the best in our maybe 10-12 cruises to date.  Bartenders a blast to interact with - I really enjoyed the Martini class I attended.  Casino dealers (We played Blackjack and Craps on multiple nights) were also fun.  One night I hit two or three "yo's" when tip betting and the Casino manager brought me a JW-Blue for taking care of his dealers.  Good excursions at all the Ports of Call - wide variety to choose from.  Loved the Mayan caves we explored and then tubed down the river through in Belize.  Of course the incredible weather throughout the entire trip was extremely helpful to the overall experience.  Even though the winds were above twenty knots at times and seas 5-7 feet maybe reaching 8 feet at times, the ship was very stable.

Very enjoyable cruise - we hadn't been on Royal Caribbean in quite some time. Good experience by jkhupchick

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was probably the first cruise where the Captain was so visible and people friendly joining in activities with the passengers.  I am sure he will be working up the ranks in no time flat.  What a humble delightful gentleman.  He made the cruise.  I was also impressed with the help of Guest Services/Event coordinator obtaining a room for us to conduct daily bible studies. Meeting like minded people and sharing your faith on a daily basis was wonderful.  All the staff from Room Steward to WindJamer Buffet servers were all very friendly and helpful.  you can tell they enjoy their work.  Everyone was excited to help the passengers,

We are used to cruising with Carnival so we have all the upgrades and that does make a big difference in percs.

I felt Paula Schwartz kept us informed and helped us immensely with the cruise setup even having the staff recognized my husbands birthday.

This cruise was a genuine pleasure from the moment we boarded ship.  Crew and staff reflect the enthusiasm and congeniality of the captain who is a constant onboard presence.

Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

For this to be my first experience on a boat, Vision of the Seas made this moment awesome.  The food, stops, entertainment, and the shopping on the boat was great.  The boat had some many things to do on it that a couple of from group decide not to debark when we hit shore.  I am definitely looking forward to my next cruise.

worse cruise ever by aegshells

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

For our 25th anniversary we went since our first cruise was for our honeymoon. we have been on several since which has always met our expectations. This time the food was horrible. My husband has a sweet tooth and he couldn't eat the desserts. Which were tasteless rubbery. The food in the dining room main entrees were also a lot to be desired. The lobster that was served with rice and steamed veggies tasted like the veggies. Soup was watery with no pieces, completely pureed. The french onion soup even though described as bread and cheese on top didn't come that way. Just broth and onions. On the room service menu there was only breakfast items. Since they now offer all the beverage/liquor you can drink everyone was drinking excessively.

Great Cruise to a Less Traveled Part of the Caribbean by debturner39

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed the cruise, the accommodations, the staff, and the itinerary.  Honduras, Belize and Costa Maya were all less-traveled and not so touristy venues.  Regardless of what one may have heard about the rural areas of Mexico and the other countries, we always felt safe with the excursions arranged via the Royal Caribbean contractor.  Trips were on time and were as promoted.  The Cozumel ferry and trip to Chichen Itza were time consuming, but seeing the temples and other buildings at the site were well worth the trip.

Great time with much fun in the sun by Gandyb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Beautiful weather during our trip to the Western Caribbean.  Food and service is always excellent with Royal Caribbean.  Port calls and excursions were outstanding with great snorkeling in Honduras and an amazing tour through the crystal caves floating on an inner tube in Belize.  The Mayan ruins are fascinating in Mexico (Costa Maya).  The Vision of the Seas is an older boat, fairly recently updated but does not have the facilities that the larger ships do. It is a smaller ship so less crowded.  The crew, including the captian, were outstanding however.  The shows were good, especially the headline acts, but the resident vocalists were average.

DON'T buy watch from the royal shop by JenniferYW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was our first cruise trip, enjoyed the ocean and beach very much, food was delicious and the crew members are hospitable. The reason why I gave 2 stars is the quality of the merchandize they trying to sell to you on the ship and bad customer support after you left the ship. I bought my husband a watch from the royal shop as his birthday gift and bought myself a matching watch. I noticed mine had a bad battery right after so returned it.  Short after the cruise, my husband noticed his watch is running slow so he send it to the manufacturer, then found out the circus board is bad and had to be replaced. After replacing the circus board now the second hand became detached from the center. We don't want to deal with this quality issue any more and tried to contact Royal Caribbean to return this watch and only got the answer of "no watch return after you left the ship". Very disappointed.

Worse ever. by jeanjoseph5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I've cruise with Royal Caribbean on three previous occasions. This by far was the ultimate worse trip I ever had. From the second day to the last day the experience was awful.  I've always been very please with Royal Caribbean and I'm saddened to say that I will not likely cruise with them again. The service was subpar. The food was disgusting. There were hardly any activities for the kids to do. And the staff were not hospitable. They just seem not to care. And why should they, we are forced to pay them tips anyway.  I purchased a beverage package that included alcohol only to find out when I receive my credit card bill that they still charge you gratuity on every single drink. If I could I would have rated them no stars. Carnival here I come!

Western Carribean cruise by Harris0n

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I really liked the great entertainment. Much better than Carnival. Good food but limited selections. The stewards were great. You want 150 words but I don't want to express more. I'm lazy. So I'm writing this extra to meet your minimum word requirement.
