Good ship, great staff and crew, easy to reach everything, short lines. This was a much better experience than when the Enchantment was in Baltimore. i would sail on this ship again and hope future cruises go similarly or better!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
From Luggage Drop-off to completing Muster Station in under 15 minutes. Note: Baltimore weather caused a one (1) hour boarding delay and Royal sent emails and alerts in the morning so we could adjust our schedule to arrive a the new time.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Most of the food was cooked well for temperature and tenderness, what Royal lacks is more seasoning/spice. Most of the items are mild or bland.
Park Cafe
4 out of 5
Not the greatest pizza, but the staff was always awesome, the hours between the buffet time was nice, but would like some longer/more late night options. Children kept going up the the seating around the Solarium pool as well and staff didn't care.
Main Dining Room
5 out of 5
Would prefer chairs with no armrests or just wider or the bench/booth area. Service was always great. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Windjammer Marketplace
4 out of 5
i think the bread/dessert area is too large and could be repurposed, but otherwise it was pretty good every time. Staff were great to us
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
It was too cold and windy to do the rock climbing or pools for us, they let kids use the Solarium pool since it was too cold on the pool deck. Mainly just ate, drank, lounged and rested.
Solarium
4 out of 5
Warmer and quieter, comfortable, i wish the water station was open early/late too. Prior to 6am i could only find hot water and coffee, so i had to use glasses of ice to cool down water i the morning since no bars were open either.
Day Spa and Fitness Center
4 out of 5
The Fitness Center is a little small, but okay. The spa needs to have towels in the locker room
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Most of the bands were ignorable on this cruise, kind of like having background music on, but didn't really care to pay attention to them. The Production shows were nice, i didn't care for half of the headliners. Jenisa Baclayon sounded like she was losing her voice and was putting me to sleep; the Production Show the next night sang half of her songs much better too. i didn't care for Abbey Road at all, i like the Beatles and their music, but had no care for Abbey Road's performance. i enjoyed the two comedians/magicians (both of them did comedy and magic).
Masquerade Theater
4 out of 5
Would have preferred some wider seats or benches so i could sit cross legged, but we liked the decoration and arrangement overall
Children's Programs
Did not cruise with any children.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Grace and Ry were awesome in the Main Dining dinner service. Ry was also in the Windjammer during lunch.
Manuel and Joyce were also very friendly and helpful at the Windjammer.
Nikki the Loyalty Ambassador was awesome in making sure we knew which benefits we had on this sailing since some of them require larger ships or longer durations.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
They had the smoker's area and Sprinkles (soft serve ice cream station) on the same side so children had to walk by smokers to get ice cream.
Casino doesn't make it easy to tell where the smoking vs non-smoking areas are and people were arguing about it. One staff member told us it was one side of the casino vs the other side, another person said you had to look at the small displays on the slot machines to see which ones are smoking and non-smoking. Also, the side we were told was the smoking side, was the path people have to walkthrough to go from the Masquerade Theater to the Centrium so children and non-smokers passing through had to deal with the smoke.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
No minifridge, but good enough cabin.
Ship tip
If you want to be active and get some prizes, participate in the events.
Pretty city, not much to do other than eat and shop unless you get a ride. i have no interest in doing anything that involves a plantation and i'm not spooked by ghosts.
Nothing great, unless you're going diving/snorkeling. If not, this is basically a waste of a stop for passengers and just a place for the ship to restock supplies.
Was wildly disappointed as reviews/videos rave about the beaches and Snack Shack. The food was just okay, South Beach was full of bird droppings, they'll eat your food if you look away and they flock around you if they catch you with food. Weather did affect the visit though as the Air Balloon was closed and the water was a bit chillier than we prefer.
We actually did bring our own sauces Skooby! And it did help with some of the items we ate! Personally I felt the items were cooked well (as in temperature and such) just a bit bland and lacking flavor.
Thanks for your review. I have experienced unseasoned food and I suggest bringing your own unfortunately. Or it could be the opposite, as there is too much salt.
