Review summary

Generally good but let down by main dining room. This is the first cruise I’ve done since Covid. It seems that all the ‘finishing touches’ that you get on a cruise have gone.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We dined in the main dining room in the evenings. I had read good reviews about the standard of the food and was very disappointed with the food we were served. The menu was repetitive and the food bland, under seasoned, sometimes barely lukewarm. Waiting staff good as long as you didn’t criticise anything. Then our waitress became frosty. Wrong drinks served four out of six evenings despite ordering the same every evening. Chops Grill, an absolute farce. Had to send my fillet back as it was tough and chewy.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

Very busy, as expected. I was very impressed with the selection and quality of the food. We ate breakfast and lunch here every day and cannot fault it. The staff were very efficient at clearing the tables and were very helpful. This buffet restaurant knocked spots off the main dining room.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I didn’t do any of these so can’t really give less than five stars.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Some very good, some very poor.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Room Steward, excellent. Dining Room Waiters below standard expected. It’s obvious that they are working for the extra tip and talk the talk but need to come up with the service! Windjammer excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Yes it’s an old ship but spotlessly clean and had everything we needed.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The furniture and fittings are old but our cabin was comfortable and very clean.

Ship tip

If this was an example of Royal Caribbean i’d book with Princess or Marella.
