Lovely cruise. For us, maybe too many ports and no sea days. We thoroughly enjoyed it though
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Excellent. I wasn't expecting it to be so quick and smooth. I think it took maybe 10/15 minutes from arrival to being on the ship
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Overall the food was fine, but it was lacking a bit from previous cruises. There was enough choice, but less than previously in Windjammer.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The activities and on board participation for guests were good. We enjoyed the ones we took part in
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We only went to see Austin Stage in the theatre, and we thought he was very enthusiastic, talented and entertaining. The other entertainment including the pianist in the Schooner bar and the band's throughout the ship were very good and we enjoyed listening to them.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The room attendant was fantastic and very helpful. Although there wasn't any need to clean/tidy our room 3 times a day. The service from the waiters in the MDR were brilliant and so we're the bar staff, especially Maria from the R Bar, who was just wonderful.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Overall still in good condition for an older ship. We do like this size of ship so hopefully a revamp will bring her back to life fully. The cleaning and cleanliness was generally very good, with a couple of exceptions.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was as expected, a bit dated I suppose, but functional and comfortable. Unfortunately the noise from the dancing and band going on until late into the evening was a bit too loud. But they did change the volume after speaking to guest services. The shower didn't have hot water for a couple of days, but was eventually fixed after a couple of visits to GS. As mentioned before, the room steward was fantastic.
Ship tip
We love this size of ship. Yes they are getting a bit old now, but still a lovely ship. We like the size as you do manage to meet other guests and see them regularly throughout your cruise. The staff get to know you better on a smaller ship.
Quite a way from the port to the old town. There was a bus to take you into the city. I think there was a small charge. The old town was really lovely to walk around
We didn't actually go to Toulon as we didn't realise that you needed to purchase a ticket to take the ferry to Toulon. We just walked around and enjoyed the area and had a beer by the water
Pleasant town on the coast. We walked up the hill to the cross at the top. It was a bit further than we thought, and we had a coffee at the top. The marina was busy and we had a lovely time
Slow. Which was a shame after such a quick embarkation, this took ages. We didn't have to rush anywhere, but it just got boring waiting to get off with nothing to do. Things happen though, so it wasn't a big deal.
