Review summary

This will probably be our last trip on the Vision. We’ve scheduled two more cruses, one in 2021 and one in 2022. We plan to cruise on somewhat bigger ships with better entertainment and hopefully a concierge lounge. We’re also beginning to think about another cruise line,

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Took advantage of my time dining. Food was standard RC fare. Enjoyed having breakfast in the main dining room instead windjammer on several days.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

The shows and comedians were quite disappointing. The Royal Caribbean singers and dancers performed shows that we’ve seen on ships a year or two ago. The highlight of the performances for the week was Earl James. His performance was high energy and outstanding.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was clean, bed was comfortable and well maintained. Storage was less than most junior suites but overall it was adequate. Only two outlets in the room and they were so lose that the plugs generally fell out

Ship tip

We are Diamond Plus cruisers and typically have access to the Concierge Lounge. On this ship we were not provided access to the Concierge Lounge and instead used the tiniest Diamond Lounge we’ve seen. Service was poor and tables were filled with dirty plates and glasses that were often not removed btw guests. This overall was a disappointment to loyal RC cruisers.

Ports of call

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We took the Caribbean Sail to Honeymoon and Christmas Cove. Beautiful day of snorkeling and swimming in the Caribbean Sea. Nice lunch provided on the beach. Well worth the cost of the excursion.

Castries, St. Lucia

Boo to St Lucia who denied us access to their port because there were crew members from China, Japan and Italy. Instead we were diverted to Roseau, Dominica where we went to Trafaiget falls and Champagne snorkeling off the beach. The snorkeling was some of the best we’ve done. The falls were a nice addition.

Bridgetown, Barbados

We always enjoy Barbados. We took the Tiami Five Star Catamaran and Turtles excursion. Nice day in the water and a tasty lunch was provided. At $135 per person, it was a rather expensive excursion. I’m not sure it was worth the money unless you are a big drinker. Full open bar after the second snorkeling stop.

Fort-De-France, Martinique

Stayed in the ship. Quiet and restful day.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Went to Sanctuary Cap Cana. Nice all inclusive resort. However if you plan to go, do not expect to have use of an umbrella. The regular resort guests get up early and put towels on the chairs with umbrellas. In the 4 hours we were there, most remained empty but unavailable to cruisers on the excursion.

This cruise was not our original choice. We were booked on the Freedom of the Seas but about was then about 6 months ago we were notified that the Freedom was going into dry dock. The Vision was the replacement cruise offered by RC.

This is one of the oldest ships in the fleet I don't think you should've expected much. Hopefully your next trip will be a lot better.
