Review summary

First experience with RCI. Not should I would go with them again unless they went to ports I really wanted to go to. The cost of balconies on this ship were way too high. Traveling with friends made the trip.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Dining room was nice. We had a table by the window. Dinner menu was good. Would not recommend the crab eggs benedict! Buffet was good. Getting out wasn't always easy as the aisle was by the buffet line.

Onboard Activities

Pool bar was nice. Played a lot of trivia in Schooner's Bar. My massage therapist seemed a little unhappy and pushed the other options. I was supposed to get a Swedish massage - light pressure - but got something deeper which I was okay with. The men in our group did the egg drop challenge and got second place. I wish they hadn't moved the time because it conflicted with our sushi class.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The shows included more comedians than I've seen on other cruises. The big number wasn't all that impressive.

Service and Staff

Loved our waiter. Hardly saw our room steward. He did great towel animals.

Ship Quality

Nothing too special

Cabin / Stateroom

I thought the bed was too hard. It was too warm and we had maintenance come and fix it. Also asked them to fix the toilet as it didn't flush right. After two calls I gave up. We added water before flushing and that helped. A little more care under the desk would have been good.

Ship tip

Get the app, but expect it's going to change.

Do NOT take the River Cruise and Shopping excursion. I anticipate taking a cruise up a river to a market selling local crafts and other things. Instead the very slow bus took us to a river where we cruised for maybe 45 minutes total up and back, The bus barely made it up the hill when we left. Then they took us to a very expensive community. There was an area with an amphitheater made to look old. We had 45 minutes there. One shop and some restaurants. Then they took us to the harbor in this community. There were some shops and a grocery store. We asked where to buy ice cream and the shop we stopped and asked (which it would seem they would have know this) had no idea. We later found it as the bus was turning around. We headed back to the port. The bus was SO slow on the highway. I think the speed limit was 90 or more KPM. We were lucky if we hit 60.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Did not visit port

We spend our time on St. John. Had a great guide on the tender. Love Trunk Bay.

Fort-De-France, Martinique

Took the Panaramic tour. It was good. Great guide. The market closed at 4 and it seemed most of the city was closing also. Didn't make sense for the ship to stay in port as long as it did.

Castries, St. Lucia

We talked this port. Took the tender across the bay only to find the market was just blocks from where our ship was. Lovely church there that is being renovated.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Loved, loved, loved the sub excursion. The tour after it was so-so. It's a long walk from the terminal to the town of Bridgetown.

All those people gathered to get off in the lounge were released at the same time. Perhaps sending people in groups would have been better. We rushed to get to the lounge and then sat for quite some time.
