Review summary

Overall a bit of a disappointment, been with RCCL with all our previous cruises and this cruise was a let down by comparison. Ship was a bit grubby and looked "old", staff were not as friendly as previous cruises (even the so called Entertainment Director, who was particularly 'mardy' on our only encounter with her). Generally a disappointment, you can tell that RCCL are cutting costs / making savings, and will probably try a different cruise line next time, which is a shame, as we have always previously rated RCCL.

Embarkation

ridiculously long time to get bags, misinformed by port staff

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Not as good as previous years where previously it was tough to choose between dishes, this year it was tough to choose one some nights. Clearly RCCL are cost cutting. Windjammer food was very good and all staff in Main Dining Room and Windjammer were very good and professional

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Some of the staff were not the best with their manner, including senior staff, staff in the R Bar particularly unfriendly. However main dining room staff were outstanding, plus our cabin staff member was particularly good and very friendly

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
the ship was very clean, however personally we felt (as did others) that the particular ship was looking a bit dated and weather worn. Why, oh Why, do they close the pool for repainting mid cruise???? And why have a retractable roof if you never open it, made the solarium very oppressive

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Don't expect it to be as good as other RCCL ships

I agree. I was not impressed with the Vision of the Seas last year.
