Review summary

The staff and crew of this ship were great. The musicians and lectures/ seminars were fantastic. The acts that were brought aboard were excellent. The variety available for breakfast and lunch was extensive. Unfortunately the fish; beef; and pork at the evening meal tended to be over cooked. Otherwise an absolutely perfect cruise.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The bus that was supposed to transfer us to the ship broke down and we ended up waiting a while at the airport until they decided to send us by taxi. Otherwise embarkation was quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The appetizers and desserts in the main dining room were good however the meat was consistently over cooked. Baby back ribs were on the menu but regular pork ribs were served and this time hadn’t Ben cooked long enough to be tender.

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

The schooner bar and staff were great. The pianist/singer Anselmo was the best that we have ever experienced

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The lectures on intelligence agencies were fascinating. My wife took watercolor lessons and had a wonderful time.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ships orchestra; the string duo; the dance band; and the pianists were the best we’ve experienced on a ship. The special acts that were brought on were top notch as well

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward Archelle was wonderful as were all the staff on the ship. The ships Captain was the most likeable and accessible of any Captain we’ve experienced!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship design was fine and it was kept very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin and bathroom were typical of other ships on which we’ve cruised. I would have preferred a shower door to a shower curtain. Archelle the cabin steward capt the cabin spotless.

Ship tip

All in all, I recommend this ship.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed San Juan. Not nearly as much hurricane damage as I expected.

Ponta Delgada, Azores

5 out of 5
Very pretty. Enjoyed the trip to the crater lakes very much.

Malaga, Spain

5 out of 5
Fascinating city. Enjoyed the tour of the city and just wandering around in the old town.

Alicante, Spain

4 out of 5
Not at all “touristy”. Enjoyed the tour of the city and then just walk-in around.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

5 out of 5
We did the excursion to Valldemossa. Great excursion. Not enough time on our own however. The tour guide was great but we ended up on a bus with pictures on the windows. You could see through the windows but not we’ll.

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
We had seen Barcelona before and just took the bus directly to the airport.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Went very smoothly.
