Review summary

This was a family Christmas cruise for 18 people. Our main purpose was togetherness and no cooking. We had a Chinese Christmas gift exchange on board which was a lot of fun. Everyone agreed that they wanted to make this an annual affair. Parking was good at the Port of Galveston Lot 2. Sign up on line and get a discount.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Very good. The buffet has such a wonderful variety of foods including great meats, salad bar, taco bar, and almost anything you would want. The dining room no longer serves lobster unless you pay about $35 for it. We did not eat in any of the specialty restaurants. Had plenty of good food without paying so much extra.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of activities including scavenger hunt, ping-pong, gym, hot tub, dance and exercise classes

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows were good. The comedian was great (also clean - how unusual).

Children's Programs

No young children with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff and service people seemed to really want to serve. They were very helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout was great. It was easy to find anyplace you wanted to go. The ship was very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were very happy with our cabin. It was clean and seemed larger than many we have stayed in.

Ship tip

Consult your daily Cruise Compass and decide each morning what activities you want to do that day or you may miss some good ones.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Just boarded here

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

3 out of 5
The town is very old, poor and dirty looking. Some of our group took an excursion to some lakes with caves and had a good time. We took the shuttle down the long pier (4 miles long) to the coast and went back and spent the day on the ship.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
We have been here many times and enjoy walking around either near the ship or going downtown. The shopping is good. We have taken excursions in the past but did not this time. My husband had a stroke recently and we were not able to do as much as we usually do.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very organized and smooth. I would suggest that you use a porter and he will take you and your baggage to a line where you don't have to wait long for customs.
