Review summary

We were having a great time on the Vision of the Seas Panama Canal Cruise when we were notified that my mother had died. Being on an excursion in Costa Rica at the time, we were at a bit of a loss as to what we needed to do to be able to get home. When we arrived back at the boat I started packing and my husband went to the Customer Service desk to get some help. A young lady named Eroma helped us to arrange transportation to Liberia, Costa Rica and get a hotel for the night. She could not have been more helpful or understanding of our situation. She was very calm and knew just what to do. She allowed us to use the internet to arrange air flight and also a couple of phone calls back home to let relatives know we were on our way. The cruise ship was excellent before this with great service from our cabin steward and Dorothy in the dining room. The food was great and although we had a table for 4, we met many neat people while dining in the evening as well as breakfast in the dining room. We were very sad that we did not make it through the canal because the couple we traveled with said it was great. We did not get to see Colon, Panama or Cartagena, Colombia either and they told us they were both great. I would recommend this cruise to anyone. There are exciting places to go and also many historical areas to visit. The Vision of the Seas is a little smaller ship that allows one to meet and make new friends.
