Review summary

We booked an extension which included Parma and Bologna. Both Cities were fascinating and our Tour guide was excellent. However we had about a 5 hour bus ride to Parma on the first day which took us back up North close to where we were the day before and at the end we had a 1 hr. 15 minute bus ride to the airport at 4:00AM in the morning. Also in my opinion this extension is backwards. It should be Bologna first and then Parma which would eliminate several long waisted bus rides back and forth. Would not recommend.

Best excursions on the trip!

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

Pisa was great! Lots of walking, bus drops you off about 3/4 - 1 mile away from entrance to see Leaning Tower of Pisa. So there's almost 2 miles of walking through traffic and narrow streets. Poor planning.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Not really part of cruise. We booked and extension and left Rome 5 minutes after disembarkation. Cruise line was more interested in getting new passengers onboard for next cruise leaving from Rome. We wish they could have explained this or offered 1/2 day bus excursion to see Rome. Very disapointed.

Disembarkation

Well. Yes. Logic for your visits to other cities would have been nice.
