Having never been on a cruise before I was overwhelmed by how much was available on board the ship. Next Viking cruise (and there will be a next time) I will take advantage of their spa -it seemed amazing! Great ship even if traveling alone-never felt lonely!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very organized and handled well by staff
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Lots of dining options and by the end of trip I had to skip a few meals as the food was delicious and hard to say no to having extra helpings.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Activities were low key (which is what I wanted)
They had putting green, table tennis, bocce ball, pool and hot tub. They also had these very cool computer based game tables that were located in these lovely books on the ship-card games, scrabble, etc.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
I enjoyed the on board musicians and there was a comedian that I did not go to see but some said they did not care for him (not cutting edge enough perhaps?)
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was phenomenal! All were so willing to accommodate your every whim-the staff was truly one of the best parts of my cruise experience!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The layout was exceptional-so many areas to sit and enjoy the view. There were spaces if you wanted a more intimate area and areas to mingle with other guests.
Cabin / Stateroom

I was in a junior penthouse suite with a balcony. It was so luxurious and I had more room than I needed. Since I was traveling alone I thought I would be in my room a lot so I did not want to feel claustrophobic-I did see the standard room and it would have been more than adequate.. bathroom was also a very nice size with the same Scandinavian design. Bed and pillows were better than home. I am very particular about firm mattresses and I was more than comfortable. Gorgeous bathroom and everything was so very clean!
Ship tip
I brought way too many dressy clothes -nice casual is all you need.standard rooms are very nice so if you can’t afford the upgrade you will still enjoy trip-so many cozy spots on ship for quiet moments and nice areas for socializing too.
Lovely port -I choose the walking tour (3hours) and it was perfect- there was even time to explore on your own. Also went on Tower of London tour which was a bit touristy but still glad I went. Line was too long for Crown Jewels.
The white cliffs were incredible. I did the historic Canterbury which was way too touristy for me a few quint streets but shopping was typical and nothing special. They had other excursion choices that I wish I had chosen.
Went on City tour which gave me a nice taste of the city. Looks to be a nice city to explore. Had a great guide who made the trip very interesting. Ship provided lots of shuttle buses for those wanting to explore.
Hardest part was choosing which excursion to take! I thoroughly enjoyed Beaumaris castle-it was not too busy and had time to climb around the site. Also had great view of London Bridge
So many choices provided-I decided on trip to Wales (not much of a city person)- Horseshoe Pass, plas Newydd, Llangollen was beautiful roiling hills dotted with hillside homes and lots of sheep. Nice opportunities to stop along the route to take pictures before getting on an old fashioned train for about 30 minutes-great scenery along the way.
Giant’s causeway not to be missed. Bit of a long drive from the ship but went quickly due to the beautiful scenery. Beautiful hike with several trails to choose from, lots of people but did not seem to be intrusive at all. I ended up on most difficult trail but was worth it for the amazing view. Would definitely return and spend more time -
I absolutely love Scotland and Ullapool so beautiful and more charming than I imagined.
Went on Knockan Crag hike which was challenging due to annoying insects and deer flies and rainy weather. There was also a bit of a time crunch so one had to work to keep up-very steep climb and many were not prepared and held up group. We had a geologist but was hard to listen to as the insects really were very distracting. Would return to hike without guide because was a beautiful site.
Really enjoyed this stop-Yesmaby to Skara Brae. Invigorating walk took about 4 hours. Scenery was just so beautiful-rugged and lush. Had time in afternoon to walk around town and do a little shopping-lots if fun!
Due to weather conditions could not dock in Edinburgh and most excursions cancelled. Viking handled situation well-had a line of coaches ready at Rosyth to bring us to Edinburgh. I still don’t know how they got so many off ship in such a short time! Ended up walking King’s Mile and Visiting Holyrood Palace which was amazing. Lots going on -festival time and would love to return to explore further.
Candor Castle and Culloden-great guide from the area. Castle had such impressive gardens and is currently occupied which made it more interesting to see how each section evolved over time. Worth the visit and was surprised at how much I liked Culloden-great exhibit to explore. Would have liked a bit more time to see more of exhibit.
The Shetland ‘s were fun even had opportunity to pet and spend time with their famous ponies. Great views. Did the Shetland Panorama & ponies. Also rugged beauty of the north-was sad to leave and could easily have spent more time.
Very pretty city as this was last stop was exhausted so just did the Panoramic Bergen tour. Had a very nice young man give tour and he was both humorous and informative. Be prepared for rain (rains 2/3 of the year).
