Review summary

After a shaky start due to engine problems which meant that we left Southampton 6 hours late at 11pm and the visit to Cadiz was replaced by a couple of hours in Vigo, so that repairs could be made. The cruise got under way properly with a hectic 4 days with visits to Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Florence and Rome all very interesting but extremely busy. Cartagena was a welcome change, plenty to see and do but without the crowds of people everywhere. And finally a quick half day shopping trip to Gibraltar.

A little confusing as the layout is virtually identical to Azura but the venue's have different names.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

4 out of 5
Villefranche is quiet but very pretty and within easy reach of Nice and Monte Carlo

TUSCANY REGION, ITALY

The 80 minute train journey to Florence is worth the effort

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
So busy, so much to see, and so little time. I think you need a lot longer than 1 day to do Rome justice.

Cartagena, Spain

4 out of 5
After Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Florence and Rome it was nice to wander round a town without the crowds.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

4 out of 5
Only got a morning here so just a quick shopping trip and a pint in the English style pub.

This happened to us in May. Disgusting P&O. Get your act together.

As far as I know the engine problems which caused delays and missed ports in April and May were fixed and Ventura has now got full power. Unless anyone knows different.

We sailed on ventura in May and we also missed a port due to engine problems and the issue is obviously an ongoing one
