Review summary

The cruise was great and relaxing. I wouldn't do it again because I don't like beach time but I'm glad I went to Cuba and San Juan.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation experience was exceptionally easy - no lines, no delays straight through

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent and the staff were exceptional.

Rotterdam Dining Room

5 out of 5

We went to the Pinnacle Dinning Room (not an option to select). The food and the service were five start. I eat out a lot but this was exceptional.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I found the entertainment to be second rate but everyone else seemed to enjoy it.

Massage / Steam Rooms

1 out of 5

Each time I have taken a cruise I have participated in massage, steam room, and therapy pool when available but due to the heavy push to sell product I chose not to do it this cruise. Unfortunate, because normally I would have had atlas to massages and used the thermal room. I just didn't think the hassle was worth it.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
I found them to be second rate but everyone else seemed to enjoy them so it may just be me.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Peri our room steward was excellent. He went above and beyond everyday and we wanted/waited for nothing. The waiters were exceptional and very attentive. These folks made the cruise for me

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I can't say anything about the layout but all areas were clean and well kept.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I was disappointed because I did expect a window and not a porthole but other than that it was OK.

Ship tip

Use all the restaurants for all your meals as you get bored with the Lido deck selection quickly when you take more than a seven day cruise.

Ports of call

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
It was OK - we didn't do any excursions.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Expensive if you don't stay out of the Diamond International store. Very touristy.

HAVANA, CUBA

4 out of 5
The excursion by bus made for a very long and there really is not much to see. Driving through the cemetery looking a the monuments of the dead is not my idea of a good way to spend time. However, there really isn't much else to see.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

2 out of 5
This was a waste of my time as I don't do beach and that is all there was. Should have just stayed on the ship all day rather than ferry to a beach.

Grand Turk Island

2 out of 5
This was a waste of my time as I don't do beach and that is all there was. They did put on a nice barbecue but providing basketball and volleyball for those that at 60,70,80 and over 90 in 85 degree heat is questionable. Should have just stayed on the ship all day rather than ferry to a beach.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We had a good time and took a private taxi around the city. Ended up going to tall the same places as the bus excursion but it was nice to be able to decide where and when. The driver was excellent and provided security in the different areas.

Disembarkation

I have to say Holland America know how to do it. There was a line but it moved quickly and then they drove us to the Airport which was very convenient.
