Ship: Valiant Lady

Review summary

Our 6 night voyage was amazing, relaxing, energizing, joyful, and inclusive. A great mix of sea- and port-days. No shortage of spaces to explore and activities to opt in (or out) of. Can’t wait to sail again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We sailed as rockstars so embarkation was a breeze. Luggage tagged at the curb (bring cash to tip - the porters aren’t VV employees), checked in, hung out a bit before heading into the port. Comfy seating, agents came out to meet us.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was spectacular. Portions are smaller so you can order a few courses and share and not feel icky. We tried every speciality restaurant; we definitely had our favorites but enjoyed them all. Pizza and ice cream are delish! And if you have access to Richard’s Rooftop, be sure to take advantage of the menu there, though hours available are limited.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I enjoyed my spin class and we took a yoga class. We also took a sushi making class that was so much fun (and useful!). We aren’t pool people, so no issue there, and we did use the hot tubs on Richard’s Rooftop once. There are fun surprises like a teeter totter and outdoor fitness options.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment is fun and quirky. Definitely on the progressive end of the spectrum so if you tend to clutch pearls, this might not be the cruise for you. The live music was amazing and some of our favorite activities.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We felt so well taken care of by the staff, but understand our black bands may have had a lot to do with that. From the first moment in the port to chatting with staff on the ground after disembarkation, we felt like the staff genuinely enjoyed their jobs and we loved talking with them.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Admittedly, I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I found the design to be fun and enjoyable. I, personally, loved discovering little tucked away areas and little surprises on each deck.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The Brilliant Suite is, well, brilliant. Plenty of space, the turntable was lovely, plenty of storage space. I used the couch/table to work on grad school each morning and it was lovely, looking out the deck at the water. The blanket is amazing and I’m dying to buy one to have at home!

Ship tip

Bring some red, don’t sweat the restaurant reservations (walk ups work!), explore the ship, meet some fun folks, keep an open mind!

Ports of call

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Very walkable, enjoyed a little ceviche and beach time

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We didn’t book an excursion and felt like the port was over commercialized.

The Beach Club (Virgin Voyages), Bimini Bahamas

Wonderful space, amazing water/beach, great food and drink

Disembarkation

Seriously, a breeze. I was nervous about how long it would take and next time we’ll linger on the ship longer.
