Review summary

We have cruised with Royal 15 times and this was one of the most relaxing.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Cape Liberty, Bayonne is very smooth. When we arrived at the port there was a long line of cars but we dropped off our luggage in less than 20 minutes. Parked the car in the garage and went through the boarding process very quickly. They opened up more agents to check you in if you completed the check in on their app. Scanned our sea pass and we were on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was excellent. Tip to finding a place to eat once on board, don’t go to the WindJammer go to Park Cafe and eat at a table in Central Park. Less crowded.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5

Main Pool

5 out of 5

Very quiet on port days but very crowed on sea days as usual. We actually stayed on board when we stopped at Perfect Day at Coco Cay since Allure was also at the island. Best decision we ever made.

Casino Royale

3 out of 5

Still very smoky but the ship does have a smoke free casino but only a few tables and slots. Very small.

Entertainment

Studio B

5 out of 5

Saw 1977 amazing show must see. Bring a sweater or light jacket it gets cold in Studio B.

Royal Theatre

5 out of 5

Saw Hairspray and flight Dare to Dream. Both excellent shows and both are done by the same cast. Don’t miss these shows.

AquaTheater

5 out of 5

Excellent shop but did have a short stoppage due to malfunctioning of the pool floor. The show went on without it and you would have never known it was needed. The performer are outstanding.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward was quick to full fill our request (which were not too many) and always greeted us with a smile. We were on deck 12 stateroom 243 overlooking Central Park. Waiter in MDR can’t say enough. Always glad to see us. We had three night specialty dinning. Ate at 150 Central Park, Wonderland and ended the cruise with Chop. All had a delicious meal. Andrew the bartender at wonderland makes a mean smoke ring bourbon. The crew was very up beat and made our trip on Symphony one we will always remember. Hope to book another trip on Symphony soon.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very clean, but I think I would go one or two decks lower due to the music on the sea days is very loud. I think deck 10 would be ideal do you can hear the jazz music being played each night beginning at 6:30.

Ship tip

Make your reservations early on the app for the shows. Get there at least 30 minutes before the show if you want good seats. They begin to let the stand by people in 15 minutes before showtime so even if you had a reservation the good seats are gone.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
Didn’t get off the ship.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Just walked the port very nice and clean.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarked with assistance and at 8:30am. Time to grab something to eat at MDR deck 3 and when we were finished our number was called so we headed to deck 5 and there was a long line to get off but again it moved fairly quickly.
