If I had known just how many experiences my 7yr old wasn't able to participate in, I probably would not have chosen this cruise. There were a lot of tears. Shame on me for not digging deeper to all the hight/weight/age restrictions. Just because they are tall enough, doesn't mean they are heavy enough or old enough. Also, pretty sure the measuring pole for the zip line and lowrider is a good inch or two higher than it should be. We measured at home and our son just made it. On ship, he was ~1/2" too short. We also didn't see the minimum weight for th zip line in Labadee. He was old enough and tall enough, but 2lbs too light (75min) to ride and broke down in tears.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Amazingly efficient, from parking lot to promenade in about 15 minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main Dining Room was good, Wonderland was great, windjammer was mediocre at best, and breakfast at Johhny Rocket's was poor (served cold)
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There were a lot of great things to do. However, our 7yr son was either 1/2" too short, 2lbs too light, or too young to participate in most of them. He also hated Adventure Ocean. We heard another parent using it as a threat at the pool. i.e. "if you don't behave, we'll drop you at Adventure Ocean!"
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Shows were very entertaining. We could see a lot of effort was put into them. We were left confused by Hiro and 1977. They were fun to watch, but just didn't make a whole lot of sense. Flight was probably my favorite.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
I mentioned above, our 7yr old hated it and we heard other parents having the same experience. We never took him back after the leaving him for an hour the first night while our older son did the teen meet-and-greet. The teen program seemed much better. Our older son used it on several occasions.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
I would say most of the staff was excellent. The staff at the pool bars being the exception. I even got a moan "aye, aye, aye, it's going to be a wait" when I asked for two frozen drinks at the pool bar one day. Every other bar or restaurant was a pleasure with some going out of their way to serve us. MDR seemed like they had too many tables to serve some nights. We hardly saw our waiters long enough for them to take our orders. That being said, they did their jobs. We hoped leaving a large cash tip with the cabin attendant at the beginning of the trip might coerse him into making up the room twice a day, but that didn't happen. They too probably have too many rooms to service. However, when you have a family of four in a room with a trundle, you are stuck with an un-made bed/couch with piles of pillows and blankets all day OR you have to make your own trundle bed at night for the kids. Especially since the gratuity is by person and not by room, a room with the trundle being used should absoulutly have two visits a day by the cabin attendant.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ship was fantastic.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
11682. Regular balcony. I'd give it all 5 stars if they had two visits a day by the cabin attendant as stated above. With the increased gratuity earned, a 4 PAX room using the trundle deserves make up and turn down service. The room was a mess all day with the pillows and blankets from the trundle bed.
Ship tip
I'd probably opt for early room make up rather than afternoon turn-down. We found ourselves away from the room most mornings and then avoiding the room in the afternoon so that it could be cleaned even though that turned out to be when we wanted to use the room.
Quick and easy. We did self service can carried our own luggage. Get to the exit door ~1hr early to be first in line if you need it. We were probably 40-50 people back arriving 1/2hr early. You can park you luggage in the line and go get a coffee while you wait.
