Great Get Away! We select our cruises based on the following: Date, Ship, Ports. January was not ideal travel weather this year. It was cold and windy most days which limited the fun we could have outside but there was still never a dull moment.

Review summary

A great trip. Would have been nicer with better weather but nothing Royal can do about that.

Embarkation

Embarkation is smooth sailing. No rough seas. We have qualified for expedited arrival and are able to move quickly through security and to the waiting area. Terminal A is open seating which is nice because the whole group can sit together even if they are in different boarding groups.

Food and Dining

I have a selective pallet. I am easily able to find food to eat for every meal and for snacks in between. We do not pay for specialty dining. We have looked at the menu and our taste is not at that level. We enjoy the main dining room for dinner. For breakfast and lunch we switch between included restaurants (main dining room, solarium, wind jammer, johnny rockets, park cafe).

So supportive and helpful. Lines were long at times but if you time it right you are fine. One attendant even tried to refund my refreshment package because we were not making the most use of it.

The individuals at NextCruise are extremely helpful and not pushy. The one we worked with had a great sense of humor and was very fast and efficient. He also had great advice for future bookings on board. Book within the first three days to enjoy bonus' or raffles. Book on Day 1 and enjoy champagne and a free gift. Book on the last day...no raffles or gifts. Lol

Nice course!! The floor feels sturdy. There were plenty of balls and clubs. Not too windy. Very sunny and hot on nice weather days.

Entertainment

Great shows. Only wathced Hairspray and Hiro but both were great. Yes they had some technical difficulties with Hairspray but that has happened back home at off Broadway shows so I understand and don't hold that against them.

The show is amazing!! The theatre was also great for watching the playoffs!! Actually felt like you were at a game!!

Our Stateroom attendant was wonderful!! I requested a pillowtop for the bed and a towel animal every night. The pillow top was there by bedtime the first night and I got a towel animal every night that was left in tact (also per request) until the last day!! He was not pushy or nosey but did make a point to introduce himslef. My one complaint is that bar staff seems irritated when you don't order alcohol. I got a few eye rolls when ordering water and sprite and no one can seem to grasp the concept that I didn't want ice in my drink. The assistant waiter at the MDR was the only one who understood and got it right.

The cabin was great. Very spacious. The bathroom and closet were nice and spacious.

Ship tip

Relax and enjoy. Come to the port by 11. You will be allowed to board. This gets you an extra several hours on board to explore the ship. Bring magnetic hooks and an over the door shoe organizer for storage.
