Bucket List Trip by Morrisdaug

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

Cruising Cape Horn on Star Princess  fulfilled a bucket list wish for us.   Really enjoyed the Star Princess.   Very friendly crew and staff.   Excellent entertainment and food.   Spectacular scenery!   Seas were rough and Windy for the days around the Horn area.  But the Captain kept everyone well informed.   Missed one port due to cross winds...unable to tender passengers but that enabled us to see the passage in daylight.

Wondrous is the only way to describe this vacation by camackenzie1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

The Land Tour to Machu Picchu was absolutely fabulous - such a "wondrous" place to visit and all the other sights that we saw were great.  The hotels were first class and the tour staff were fantastic.  The cruise portion was also great, though the shore excursions were very expensive and some were not good value for money.  Overall this was a trip of a lifetime!

Great trip by gcmonroe3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

First cruise for my wife and me. This 2 week cruise was a blast! Good balance between sea days and port days with an incredible choice of activities. We enjoyed the wild beauty of the open seas, Amelia glacier, rugged Chilean archipelago, and more. The on board amenities are wonderful, the food and service were amazing. The only negative was hit or miss quality of on board entertainment.

Cape Horn and Straits of Magellan by sandon5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

Beginning, middle and end were good but some of the other ports were just OK.

Some of the ports really had very little to offer. The excursions were overpriced and not very exciting. Montevideo was littered with cigarette butts all over the city. I can't believe the city doesn't take more pride to how they look to visitors. Skip the Falklands and just go to big local zoo to see penguins and sea lions. It wasn't worth the money or the 5 hours on the bus to see them.

South America by bhill44

Great cruise---good itinerary.  We had a great cabin steward and ate mostly at the buffet.  The nightly entertainment was not as much as we have had on Princess.

Rio to Santiago Cape Horn Cruise by gailm822

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

Poor organization and communication with passengers. Embarkation in Rio was and a half hour nightmare. Ship was shabby and in need of refurbishment. We got stranded in Punta Areas for 6 hours and were left standing in the cold, damp terminal for hours without information from Princess. 2 ports of call were cancelled because of weather, which I understand, however no supplementary arrangements were made.  This is an exciting trip but the Star Princess was an unpleasant experience at best.  I am a very experienced cruiser , this was the worst ever.

Good itinary if we could have gone in to all the ports. by richmond575

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

Enjoyed the majority of our cruise.  We were very disappointed in not being able to see The Penguins in two ports due to weather conditions.  I am a vegetarian, and my diet consist of leafy green vegetables.  They ran out of lettuce after a week at sea, and the fruit was not to our satisfaction. Without lettuce the salad bar was null and void.

Star Princess by ejovellana

We went on the 14night Cape Horn Rourte from Rio de Janeiro that ended in Valparaiso, Chile. The itinerary was good except that it stopped in Falkland Islands which was mistake. We could not disembark because of the rough waters. We should have stopped in Montevideo instead as far as I am concerned. We also stopped in Ushuaia which was one of the reasons I went on this cruise but that was aborted as well because of the weather which was a big disappointment. I won't go on this cruise again.

TERRIBLE DISASTER by hoyasaxa90

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

This was the most disappointing and terrible vacation.  The embarkation in Rio was a complete disaster.  We missed almost all our ports.  We did not stop at Falkland Islands.  We did not stop at Ushuaia.  We lost money on all our excursions.  We were almost killed on one of the Princess excursions to see the penguins, which we never saw.  We were stranded in the port in Punta Arenas.  IT WAS AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL all around.

Ok not great by sandee380

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

The water was very rough, the food was just ok, service was good, ship was less than expected, crew messed up on the disenbarkment process at Buenos Aires and we were delay 2.5 hours which cut our tour short, tours were not what we expected.  Overall, the trip was good, but not up to par with other experiences we have had.  I would not recommend this ship or Princess.

Passenger Service by gwale4949

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

The cruise was fine, the fact that we had seen al the cruise staff shows on the first half the cruise made it alittle disappointing. the other entertainers were not very good. The tours were very poor and not anywhere close to vaue for money. One was cancilled and two of the places we visited the shops were closed.

The passenger service was very poor, it seemed like they did not know what they were doing. An example of this I asked one of them about logging on to my stateroom account and I was having problems logging on and his answer was have you had your cell phone next to your cruise card. By the way the cell phone next to your card semed to be the standard answer for any problem.

SPECTACULAR FIRST CRUISE by KauaiBodySurfer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

We were so impressed with everything about this cruise that we booked two more cruises while onboard and have already decided to add a third.  The food, staff, entertainment, and fellow passengers were even better than we had expected.

I broke my hip less than two months before the ship sailed, and I was put in a handicapped cabin and treat with the ultimate in TLC wherever we went.  The recumbent bike resistance pool were ideal for my recovery.  In fact, we wish we were still onboard!

This was one of the best experiences of our lives, and we can't wait for a repeat performance.  We know it will be even better without a broken bone.

A great cruise on the Star Princess by Cruiser358

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

Overall we had a terrific cruise on the Star Princess from Los Angeles to Santiago, Chile.  We had exceptional service from our Room Steward and Dining Room Servers.  The only thing that was lacking was the organization of the Shore Excursions.  Strange that this would be so disorganized given that cruises have multiple shore excursions on all their cruises.  The staff would blame delays on all outside factors such as immigration policy of the port-of-call, traffic in the harbor or the port limiting the number of buses allowed into the port.  We believed these excuses initially, only to discover from other passengers or our own observations that these excuses were lies.  If the staff is going to lie about the causes for delays and disorganization, they need to come up with better lies in the future, lies that can't be uncovered by the passengers.  The passengers aren't quite as stupid as they think.  This reflects poorly on the Captain of the Star Princess.

CABA CABO SAN LUCAS by craige8233

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Mexico

I just gave a four star because some of the bartenders did not have enough knowledge or ability to know how to even put ice in a glass let along capable of pouring a scotch and soda wit a lemon twist.  That is very sad.

On the other hand the bartenders in the Plaza bar were all excellent, friendly, efficient as well as the Wheel House Bar and the Explorer Lounge.  Shooters was so-so but the Casino bar should be ripped out and redesigned by someone who knows what a bar is.

The two main dining room I used were Capri and Portafino. (sp).  Both offered decent menus and very good service.  All of the staff in those two rooms were superior and Louis (of Peru) went above and beyond.

The entertainment was all superb.  That includes The Plaza, Princess Theater, Explorer Lounge, Wheel House, and Vista Lounge.

Great! Cruise line, wonderful staff. The whole experience was amazing. the only thing I wish was better was the DJ they had, He had an attitude when you request songs  he did not seem to like his job very much....We would definitely choose Princess again in the future.

Review of Star Princess 4 night West Coast Cruisek - November 24-29, 2015 by ginniecol

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Mexico

I am pleased to say that our experience on the Star Princess Cruise Ship was magnificent. We were especially pleased with our cabin (it was roomy and comfortable), and the excellent service received by the Cruise Staff.  We are looking forward to a repeat cruise next year for Thanksgiving, and hope that we will be able to get the same accommodations (especially the cabin).  Thank you, Angie, for the wonderful dining experience at Sabatini's Restaurant.  The food was delicious and the service was great.

Family Thanksgiving aboard the Star Princess by karlcordula

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Mexico

We cruised with our adult children and enjoyed the cruise experience very much. The accommodations were fine, the dinners were good, and the overall atmosphere at shows/entertainment venues was fine. Boarding/reboarding and disembarking was timely and efficient. Our overall experience was positive.
