Embarkation
5 out of 5
Everything easy and posted directions with staff showing the way. Seriously walked in and 2 minutes later we were boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Didn't do any pay dining but used both anytime and early dining as well as buffet. No complains at all. Amazes me how efficient and streamlined it all is.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
All shows were great. Watched all the shows in the Atrium. So talented.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Loved magic shows, musicians were all very entertaining
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
If I could give a review of 10 I would but the 5 stars with do for every staff person across the board. Nothing more can be said! Every single one said, good day, or good morning, smiled. Our room steward was so personable, so friendly. Plus kept our room spotless 3 times a day.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Clean clean clean. When in each port they were painting the exterior. Our balconies has fresh varnish, room was without a flaw. Everything we encountered worked perfectly. On day one I noticed my bedside lamp didn't work. I informed our steward and the following day it was replaced.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Balcony cabin is a must if your cruising on an Alaskan cruise. Its windy and chilly on open decks so at time we so appreciated the balcony. Worth every penny. We were lucky as our balcony was always the side when we docked at ports. So we sat and enjoyed the view immensely.
Ship tip
Utilize all your dining option. Do, see, experience it all.
I really struggled with this over 8 hour tour since it left no time to tour in town. But......it was a very good choice. 8 1/2 hours bus/train tour with dinner. Visited Carcross husky sled dog farm, saw puppies, sled dogs pulling jeeps. Great museum, scenery up and back into Canada was breathtaking.
I thought we would see more broken off glacier pieces floating around. We were up at 4:30 A M to catch cruising threw from 5 to 9. Captain did a great job going in, making the turn and coming out. The staff went out picked up a piece of ice glacier and brought it on the ship. Fun to watch.
Our tour was a "once in a life time adventure". It was the most breath taking scenic picturesque of my life. Called "Pilots Choice Two Touch Down Glacier Helicopter Tour. We landed on 2 glaciers, flew all over the area.
Enjoyed view from our balcony, did a little walking around the pier. Didn't have a lot of time for an excursion since we had to pack up. Customs was easy with our passports.
We were a little anxious about the process but it went streamline. Staff kept it moving and very easy. We did the valet for our suitcases, so we set them out at bedtime and never handled them again until we landed in our home city. Never cost us any extra to do this. The ship also printed off our luggage tags as well as Airline passes. Not all airlines do this but our did.
Thanx 4 your gracious review. We will be on the Star on 9/8 & have been living on sites like this and the various ones on FB counting down the days. We are also taking the Deadliest Catch tour and very much looking forward to it. We also are taking the train in Skagway, but sounds different but a feast for the eyes, nonetheless!
Thank you for the review. What was the tour called in Skagway? We were looking forward to Skagway but for some reason our itnery changed and now stopping in Haines instead. But I guess for 75.00 you can catch a fast ferry 45 min to Skagway. 680.00 a person is to expensive for helicopter π ( unless we can find it cheaper in port But we look forward to doing the dog camp where they pull golf carts and visit with puppies.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! For your detailed review!
Sailing Star princess September 1st, same itinerary. Now I'm counting the hours, not just the daysππβππβΊπ
Glad you enjoyed it. I have seen a few negative reviews on this ship and Alaska in the past few weeks. I canβt imagine being on a cruise or in Alaska and being as miserable as some seem to be based on their reviews.
