Review summary
Mid Cruise, I had the Salmon in the main dining room. 90 minutes later I had explosive vomiting. The ship has denied all responsibility. Of course! But, we were at sea. There was no other food venue. I did not recover from this illness until several days after I returned home. The Windstar line took my complaint and offered me a 150 credit on my next cruise. Since that is a joke, I will never cruise with this line again. I would advise any of you that get sick, to document every second of it. I was so sick that for about the next 30-35 hours I did not want to get out of bed except to vomit again. On the second day, I went to the infirmary. The doctor tried to play down my illness by making statements such as "you seem to be fine now" and "we are sorry you did not feel well". "Drink some gatorade" she said. She then handed me exactly 3 packets of Dry Gatorade. I don't like Gatorade, but I took it. After the severe upper GI symptoms such as nausea and vomiting began to subside, this is when the lower GI symptoms began to erupt. And Erupt it did. People had to have heard me screaming 3-4 rooms down the hall. I ate nearly nothing until I left the ship. We are talking 3 and a half days. We are talking enough diarrhea to sink a battleship. This continued for 4-5 more days. So, I had planned 3- 4 days in Aruba post cruise. I was just to sick to stay. So the first night I found a plane to Tampa. I made the reservation and hoped I would not soil myself until I got home. When I got home and felt a bit better, I phoned up Windstar. They were so sorry that they offered me a 150 dollar credit on my next cruise...with them!!. Since I will never board one of their ships again, I declined their offer of the aforementioned credit as it were.Embarkation
